Thanks for checking. Manhandle the bottom cushion to the back and then ensure the front clips into place. I have had mine out numerous times and it's solid. Good practice anyway for when you change you fuel pump later during your mods (You are going to mod, right?)

Very conservatively... at least that's the plan. First I have to wait for Cobb's '11 map to come out so I can get it loaded and stop farting around with this AZ 91 octane horse ****. I'll see how it runs on that and then go from there.

I doubt I'll do the whole bolt-on thing. Been there done that. If I go, I'll most likely go big. Water injected, big turbo E85 bomb just waiting to go off.

Update:

I'm at about 1400 miles and most of the engine-related smells are disappearing; so there is light at the end of the tunnel! However, I'm a bit worried about my clutch. Sometimes when I play with it in first gear I get the burnt clutch smell (imagine sitting at a red light on a hill in San Francisco and using your clutch/gas to keep the car stationary instead of using the brake).

Chances that I damaged the clutch? I only smell it when I play with it.

how high do u rev the engine up? my suggestion is to just keep the car in neutral and dont clutch in as its not good to do so anyway. your tob was meant to be in a resting position which is when the clutch is not engaged. if ur just resting with the clutch in, your tob will get hot which will eventually decrease its life span

Oh man don't ever do that, that's a clutch killer for sure. At all stop lights put it in neutral, foot off the clutch, and use the brakes.

Just hit 7k miles and whenever I park her in my garage I still smell a burning rubber/plastic smell. Changed the oil the other day on a lift, couldn't see what is causing the smell.

If you are buying brand new, my advice is to get one with as few miles as possible. 20 miles seems like nothing but those 20 miles could have been hell for that car. Aim for the absolute minimum.

And remember this thread.

Dude, most vehicles smell like that (I just got back from checking under the hood of an 1M and S4 at the Chicago Auto Show and that smell is exactly like mine and assuming yours).

Only 400mi since it has been in storage for Winter and I smell it. It is obviously not overbearing in any way. It just that it isn't a common smell so it is somewhat exaggerated.

The plastic cover for the X and the white foam underneath of it go through some cycle. Take that out and I am sure your Evo won't smell nearly as bad. Something in the plastic and rubber coated parts go throught some kind of "break-in" process due to heat cycles.

I work as sales at a Mitsu dealership, and I can say this smell comes up on all new cars, especially Evo's

Now I'm no mechanic/tech, but my guess would be it's normal. Engine and brakes haven't been broken in yet. My guess is that brand new oil is being used for the first time in a new engine, and the Brembo's don't feel like any special brakes on our Evo's since the pads haven't settled in yet.

or maybe ALL mitsu cars are poorly made to have this smell lol
