Anti flicker for HIDs
Anti flicker for HIDs
Instead of the relays for disabling the DRLs, has anyone tried the anti-flicker kits/capacitors? They apparently even out the voltage that's being sent to the DRLs.

Or Philips sells a complete kit which includes "CAN-BUS circuit for flickering and radio interference resolution"

the anti flickers do work for me too. i have a 2010 GSR. i got mine from ebay about 15 bucks + shipping. i remember its also called error canceler.
Philips makes really expensive hid kits, and i personally think its an over kill. a friend of mine bought 2 pairs of those for both of his cars - a vw golf and a jeep wrangler. had a hell of time to make them work with the golf, and he is still trying to make them work with his wrangler as far as i know. and yes, he did order the CANBUS model from Philips, but the flickering still exists on his jeep.

scroll down, you need to use the "pulsed to steady output" relay setup. if you take that diagram to a seasoned installer he should be able to at least wire up the relay for you so that you can put it in easily.
it says for blinkers/cornering lamps on the page, but that is just the example they're using. you can use the same exact technique on your car and it will work perfectly.

This is the seller I bought from:

Mind you following things:
1. DLR will no longer be available. Your light will always be on all the time when the car starts. This is rather a limitation on the HID kit, not the anti-flicker capacitor.
2. If you ignite your car with low beam light already switched on, the lights will actually not turn on. You HAVE to ignite your car with light switch off in order for the headlights to be turned on.
All in all, HID *upgrade* is not perfect. But personally I don't really see above to be too annoying, I can definitely live with it
