Oil Overfill and Oil Burning Smell

So i recently bought a 2008 Evo X. I noticed a burning oil smell after longer drives and checked the oil level, which read high. There were also a few small bubbles in the oil; I assume from the overfilled oil getting splashed around:

I drained the oil to the proper level and the smell went away.

My question is, would this cause any non-obvious damage to the seals that would crop up later?

I've heard over filling your oil can damage your oil pressure...

It's kind of a crappy pic with some glare. The oil actually goes above the second hole almost as far as the two holes are separated. The grey-to-silver transition is the oil line, not the brown to grey transition. You can see a bubble in the oil above the brown to grey oil line.

Already did; oil smell went away. Worried that it caused permanent damage. . .
