Have you installed anything that might put a strain on it during operation and/or while it is sitting? Did you let it drain?

Bad things happen now and then, but car batteries seem like a generally reliable technology when properly cared for.

Did you disconnect the battery or have a "trickle charger" while it was in storage?

I had it stored for about 3 weeks, then went to start er up and it was dead, so I boosted it and let it run and did this 3 times over just to keep things moving inside, but then wanted to take it out for a spin yesterday... boosted it, let it run and the lights in and out side of the car kept flickering and had a warning light come up, think it said battery failure or something?
then it died again lol,,, had my dad test it today at his shop and he said it was shot... thank god it wasnt my altrnator... but any ways, ya I had a buddy set up my aftermarket alarm so maybe that did it?

Aftermarket alarm could definitely do it, Might want to confirm that isn't draining your battery once you get a new battery.

Mine lasted less than one day on a brand new evo, true story. Dealer replaced it with an Optima red top.

3 weeks in storage with even your factory alarm armed can drain your car's battery. the cold definitely decreases the length you can store it as well. remember theres a plug (jumper) you can pull in the fuse box under the hood that cuts power to your car so that it doesn't drain when in storage

Your next step comes in two words.

"Odyssey Battery"

OE batteries are hit and miss. I remember my Mazda battery going for 5 years before it died. The battery in the honda, lasted a year + 1 day. and then was toast.

SSS will also drain your battery. Mine died once this Winter but I'd let it sit 8 weeks. I'll definitely be disconnecting the battery during the colder months of next Winter.

Just a note. Sears OEMS the Odyssey battery for our car and sells it for less money than the Odyssey branded ones.

I too had that problem on my 2008 evo x. took it to the dealer, which they tried to charge me for , but showing them it is still under warranty they replaced it and gave me a optimal red top for free.
