Why give the cop any more reason to write a ticket?

My first ticket ever I think I honestly could have gotten away with a warning, but I also had an expired registration.

The cop was really nice and helpful through what I could do to get out of the ticket since it was my first, and just gave the overall impression of "I would have let you go, but ALSO your registration is expired. Sorry"

He even wrote my "speeding" speed like 10mph lower than what he caught me doing. So why add on another offense when you get pulled over for such a silly cosmetic thing...

Cops never look twice at my X with limo tint and when I had a loud exhaust. I got more attention in my stock 06 civic. I also dont mind the front license plate location, its actually a conversation starter everyone wants to know why its on the side of the bumper.

Zip-ties to the rescue!!! hahaha

There's several ways to mount it without having to "drill" holes in your bumper.

Um, no? I daily drive in San Jose and I think SJPD has only pulled me over once for driving with headlights off (oops!). But CHP on the other hand, I think have pulled me over 4 times (resulting in 1 front plate ticket and 1 speeding ticket).

Over the course of 3 years of driving my X every day.

I think it's mostly about your actions and behavior. How you drive on the street and how you interact with the officer determines what the outcome will be.

Weird, I actually attracted less attention in the X than I did in the VIII or IX. I haven't had front plates on any of my cars in the last 17 years and never got pulled over for it (I work in and around Santa Clara).

A lot of the socal guys 3m tape their plates to their front bumper in the stock location. I also never would have thought of this until i saw it on a minivan of all vehicles but they had their license plate stuck to their passenger side sunvisor and had the visor down so you could see it. It was actually more visible than sticking your plate on your dashboard.

I just took another trip back to West Texas to visit my parents, on the way back to Austin I got pulled over again on the very same highway. Its a different cop each time, it never freaking fails that their excuse is that they didn't see my front license plate. This time I was doing 5 under the limit because my radar detector caught him early. Yet again no ticket, only a warning. Sometimes I get so frustrated that I want to color my license plate with highlighter or buy a vanity plate that's not white... but then they would win by causing me to spend money.

The Evos sunvisor is super cheap and would probably fall off with the weight of the license plate.

For people asking y some places run front plates and some states don't is cause of vehicle theft. States with higher numbers of vehicles being stolen are usually ones that require front plates. Have also seen on tv a show, don't remember the name it was on natural geographic, that the front plate helps cops identify stolen cars faster. Alot of the cops in dash camera is linked to the database of stolen vehicles and the computer reads ur front plate if parked on the opposite oncoming lane and reads the rear plates of cars in the lane of traveling direction and runs it against the plates of stolen cars for matches. This eliminates the need for cops to have to drive up then back down the road to read all the plates if they were only mounted on the rear. Its sad that alot of people are against the front plate however its only meant for a good reason they just don't tell u y.

They look out specifically for you. The excuse that white blends in with your white car is about the dumbest excuse I've heard a cop say. I live in Texas and see white cars all the time and I can clearly see the plate. The cops just want to harass you

I've had my Lancer for less then a year now and have gotten 7 tickets (speeding) and 2 parking tickets in Chicago...I live in Austin, so I'm not paying those, they can come get me.

Anyways I was driving up on a State Trooper, going 2mi over the speed limit and what the heck are you putting on your flashers for before I even pass you! I'm not even speeding! So I pull over and he mentions I have no front plate. It's sitting under the back seat. I told him that I keep forgetting to put it on. He goes to his car to check his computer and comes back and says....this is not the first time you have been pulled over for no front plate. I'm shocked because no ticket I have gotten has ever mentioned no front plate and he's the only cop who has mentioned it. I tell him so and he looks at me crazy. He gave me a warning and told me to put it on.

So I'm thinking of getting the side plate holder
