Also, I've had it where the shifter wasn't fully seated in the park position and won't allow me to start the car...I was confused why it wouldn't turn then triedthe steering wheel and that didn'twork and moved my shifter forward and I felt the shifter seat properly. It then started.

This happened to my uncle's CRV. What was stupid was we kept telling him to turn the wheel and then turn the key. He said he was doing that but it doesn't work. So he had the car towed to the dealership and within 20 secs, they got the key to turn and told him you had to turn the wheel to turn the key. He must been turning one way only or not enough to get off the key lock.

I've got an '11 and have this happen when I leave my key in car..for example,

-pull into garage at home, leave backpack in car with key in it..

-try to start car next morning, key wont turn..

-pickup backpack and wave it around

-start car

Very true, this has happened to me and is what I had thought initially.

Sometimes a low battery in the car or the keyless remote can play silly tricks on the electronics.

A cell phone can cause this. Had my keys in my pocket with my cell and caused the MID to display "lo-battery" and "no key"

yup, so i got a new battery and done, and depending on whats in your pocket i think has a lot to do with it, but as far as starting, mine would act up at times, turned wheel still didnt work, then after i got the battery...no problems, but when the steering wheel locks, just jerk it around and turn and you're good to go.
