Fans kept running

Today I got to work, switched off and got out of my car. I then noticed that the fans were still going. I got back in and made sure the car was really switched off, it was. While i stood over my engine a little freaked out, it then turned off. Is this normal for a Evo X GSR?

I believe I read in the manual that the fans can stay running for up to 3 mins after you shut the car off.

Normal I try to keep my car on when I get home from sprinted driving to let it cool down on its own. If car is too hot fans will stay on not for long if you turn it off

In the ralliarts we experience the same thing after spirited driving- its a stock turbo timer which leaves our car on for another minute after turning off the engine

Yeah there are two criteria that are checked by the ECU at ignition shutoff - coolant temp and A/C switch on or off - to determine whether the fans will stay on. It's in the manual.

if the maf sensor reaches a certain degree then it will triger the fans. only when it gets to that degree

definitely normal, in fact i was reading that in my manual a few months ago while learning how to program the FAST keyfob. if your engine is running hot at the time of shutting it off the fans can keep running for a while.

I doesn't happen to me much... but it did happen to before. Just like you... the first time it happened I kinda was freaked out. But it just went off after.
