Another day with no problems

08 GSR, 59800 miles. Stock clutch, AP tuned since ~20,000 miles. Two sets of summer tires (I run winters from Nov to May still on first set), brake pads, rotors turned. Replace fuel pump relay every ~20000 miles. Fuel line and hood latch recalls. One leaking CV boot, replaced under warranty. Lots of oil changes and changed other fluids twice. Two speeding tickets, then bought Valentine One. Big Effin smiles every day.

Feel better?

That's one of the best reasons to come here, the community is quite supportive.

i'll quit worrying and searching the forum for the 'horror stories' and just enjoy the car per everyone's advice... thx!
It's great to learn and be aware about possible issues, this way you can spot them early on. But you must keep the mindset that it's not a problem until it's a problem

Well that is what this site is mainly here for. A majority of users come here for help with their issues, to complain about issues, and document issues. With a place like this, you are always going to hear more bad than good. It's the nature of the beast.

With that being said, I do think you're overreacting. All cars have problems, no matter what brand it is. Re-read that a few times because mitsubishi problems aren't as big of a deal as most manufacturers: subaru, infinity, etc.

As far as the t.cases go, it's pretty well documented they've failed because of being overfilled from the factory. It's a 10 minute check, less if you have a lift. Bad ACDs were a result of low fluid. IE check your fluids quite periodically.

This IS a performance car, it needs high maintenance.

The other thing to take away, a majority of these issues were on 08s (minus the overfilled tcases). 08 was the first year for the car, there are going to be bugs.

You have the best year of the three years they've been out..... 2011. Enjoy it, don't fret, and remember you DO have a warranty. You only don't have a warranty if you mod and take it there like that. Also, you could possibly have the last Evo ever made. If you're going to jump, jump into the drivers seat and go around some twisties and ENJOY!

Hrm, I think I should start a therapy group...

3 Model years for U.S.

Elsewhere, it has been out since 07 and guess what? Our vehicle is an exact copy of JP except RHD and a tune (possible bumper beam?), but that is it.

Modified practically-any-car-on-the-road usually have warranty issues.
Make that two decades if you are counting from the turbo AWD Galant VR-4 sold in 1991. Three decades of selling turbo'd cars here if you count from the Starion.

So yeah, Mitsubishi has extensive history and expertise in building reliable turbocharged performance cars.

Yah, I really wasn't counting the 07 because it wasn't almost a beta of sorts. They were still in design stages at that point and changing things. But it was released in limit numbers in Japan.

Stop worrying dude - like everyone on here has said, jump on the drivers seat and enjoy the car for what it really is, a BEAST.

I modded at 2k miles up to 346whp and 360tq, been having fun since lol. Nothing has broken (crossing fingers) but dont drive like an idiot. Lots of spirited driving though.

Therapeutic thread was therapeutic.

The gas mileage is definitely bad....my X is worse on gas mileage than my modified 8 year old WRX was, and I drive the Evo more conservatively. I don't give a **** about that except for the fact that gas prices are going up. Oh well, pay to play.

Minus a weird turbo sound that I'm trying to diagnose (that may just be in my head...) I LOVE the Evo. Feels more refined but god in heaven she moves and turns.....The fun factor is extremely high, and I'm liking the SST more every day. She's frills free (which I like) minus the awesome bluetooth feature. No heavy luxury crap, no gaudy interior, just all business. This coming from the guy that would DD an Exige. I don't need Nav, leather, sunroof, wing, or anything else not necessary to the proper function of the car's intended purpose. My commute is 20miles a day total, other than to/from work I don't usually drive so my miles will be LOW.
