Phantom Black color questions?
When the car is clean and in the sun you can easily tell what parts of the car are metal and what parts are plastic. The metal keeps the black look while the plastic turns purple. Very unique color and I love it.
I disagree earlier, I cant really get PB to shine like all my other cars, and Ive spent a fair amount of time polishing with all sorts of stuff.
It kinda looks the same, all the time, dirty..clean.. in the sun.. in the dark..
Experiencing much regret not getting Silver.

The only thing good about Phantom Black on an Evo is for being able to easily count how many bird poops are on the car when you return to your parked car after getting off work. I spend more money washing bird poop off my car than on keeping the gasoline tank full for a week.
The PB evos are way nicer than AS ones to me..
If you have a copy of the Mitsu Evo X design study papers it says that Phantom Black was a color/shade specifically developed for the Evo X at the request of the design team. The other color they modelled was RR and that is the color they ended up putting on the Concept, Prototype and intial marketing materials. Just an FYI
Well I didn't realize how different the PB is from the black on the 8/9s. I always clay, polish and wax a car when I first get it, and I thought I ruined the paint after I did so on my PB 10, only to come to realize that after seeing another PB 10, that it's just the way it looks. Don't get me wrong I love the car, and it looks good when washed, just not that piano gloss black I prefer, instead a greyish purple haze .
I'm thinking about picking up an MR T for a daily and making the GSR a project, and if I do, the MR is going to be silver.
