Phantom Black color questions?

I just bought a 2010 EVO X SE two weeks ago.

Now it is a phantom black, but for some reason it feels like its not as black as it should be, like almost a bit grey-ish in it.

Anyone else with that? or is it just me?

First off, this is a Evo VIII and IX forum. The Evo X forum is above this one.

But yea the PB color on the newer evos are more of a greyish black color instead of just black.

I looked at Evo X's before deciding on my 9. Phantom Black was the color I was set on.

It is not a true black. The combination of added flakes really makes them tint grey. Very unique color and very very very nice once waxed and polished up.

I love my PB. Agreed it is the best color on the X when it is polished and waxed, really brings out the color. It is the most horrible however when it gets dirty.

2010 PB X SE owner here as well. Our cars are really only black in very specific light. You'll find it looks dark gray when slightly wet and poorly lit. Sounds normal to me.

my pb looks different in different light. it has so much red and green flake in it it changes. Sometimes it looks gray, others black, sometimes brown, and sometimes a dark olive. It's a neat color but a ***** to keep clean.

I personally don't think its too bad when the car is dirty lol. Almost reminds me of a matte dark gunmetal haha.

Definitely depends on the light. My car has looked black, grey and even a little purplish depending on the way the light hits the surface.
