If it's inside it's definitely the passenger side A pillar. Right where it meets the dashboard.

 

Ok I def know what it is the silver plastic piece around the gauges it's clipped on by just plastic and it's a tiny bit loose if u give it a little tippy tap it'll quit for awhile it drove me nuts for 7 hours one time till I figured it out

 

Agh~ Mine rattles as well, somewhere in cnetral panel more towords driver's side, sounds like a plastic piece... mostly at 1750 and 2300 RPM... Maybe something inside/behind stereo unit since my car originally came with RockFord with Navi, but dealer took it out later...
~ so annoying~

 

Thank God other people have this.................it has been driving me crazy the past couple weeks.only at super slow speeds and over bumps............I am so OCD I took it to have my shop figure it out..................then they ran my front aero lip into a curb and cracked it!!!

Well, that's why I did not look for one with aero kit when i was shopping my X =P

 

My super annoying rattle is my shifter cables hitting somewhere deep in the dash. If I push on the shifter the sound goes away. Try it.

 

I have a strange metal front end rattle coming from my lancer as well. I put my car up on my lift and hit the tire with a rubber mallet and was able to duplicate the noise on one side. I found the backing plate and center cap making noise. The center car was an easy fix but I dont know what to do about the brake backing plate. Im wondering if I put another on if it will fix it. Try doing what I did and see if thats your noise.

i have 2011 mr and its making strange off beat rattling sound when idle. Car got 32000 miles.

 

yup common evo prob. rattling noise .. i too have them on the inside of my car but i know where all mine are coming from
1. driver side door (i just pushed on it by where the trim is and it goes away, for a bit)
2. glove box ( just open and close it or punch it either or )
3. sounds like its coming from the radio/dash (still have yet to figure it out)
4. passenger window ... i think...

ultimate fix... turn radio up problem fix no more rattling noises lol
