Tuning & Overall help...Socal

Hey guys. Ive have my 2011 MR for about 5 months now. Ive got an Invidia q300 exhaust downpipe and test pipe and an Ams Intake. It sounds great drives better than my S4. I just think it really needs a tune. For example I backfire a pretty good amount and yesterday on my buddies land I got spanked by a stock STI...Im pissed so what needs to be done? If tuning is needed. WHere in the Socal area could I get that done and what should It run me? Thanks guys

Jon Drenas (BakaUnchi) @ SoCal Cobb would be a great place to start. Bryan (razorlab) @ GST would be another good one, but I think he retired from the dyno-tuning game for health reasons.

Also Road Race Engineering in Santa Fe Springs. Very odd to have been beaten by a STI. I wouldn't be surprised if the test pipe really messed up the tune and the backfire is an indicator it's probably running way too rich.

+1. Although companies that sells these bolt on parts says that "gains of over blah blah blah without a tune". What they don't tell you is that you really need a tune! Lol

If you're going to go to Road Race Engineering, be prepared to take some "unnecessary" criticism. I have a thread in the services and tuning review if you want to read my review more thoroughly, but overall, great place to tune, probably one of the best in so cal
