Stock Evo... e85?
Guys... I'm sold on switching to e85... I mean, I'm doing it 200% sure...
The question is, since I'm a super noob when it comes to Evos (All I did was minor mods on the Ralliart so please bare with me lol) can I start using e85 on a bone stock Evo?
I'm not planning on doing anything for a few months... I just got the GSR and I'm about to throw down massive cash for a House purchase, which means I'll be horribly broke for at least 12 more months before I decide to start buying all the parts...
My plan is to be arond the 400 numbers or high 300s... and I already have lots of nice mods that I've picked up from you guys over the past years lol... like an FP-Green, MAP o2 elim, maybe an AMS dual or Invidia Q300 (I need something a bit on the quiet side... wife can't stand loud exhausts
), grimmspeed 3/port, etc, etc, etc...
BUT, I'd like to have the advantages of running e85 off the go... it's $3.15 around my area, while 93-oct is currently selling for $4.05... not only that but all the extra benefits of running e85 plus I might even be able to run a bit faster with no mods whatsoever...
Do you think it's a good idea? and what route do I go... is this all I need plus the tune?

I actually have a friend here in MN that is on a 100% stock evo IX (including fuel pump and injectors) and his car is tuned on e85, just with stock boost levels. The IX uses higher boost levels so idk if it would be possible on an X, but maybe worth trying
All you need is fuel pump and injectors. If you're going to buy some, I say get some that are 1000cc or bigger, the 850's would probably work but they will be maxed out pretty quickly, esp if you add more mods down the road (and you know you will!).
Yes, pump, injectors, tune. I would do a 3-port BCS while you're at it and get the most out of the setup. Even on a stock car, run ~25-26psi, 6-8° of timing around boost onset/peak torque and ~17 up top, the thing will rip!
If you're on the 'while you're at it' slippery slope, do a testpipe too...$100 for the megan and you'll be 1/2 to 3/4 of the way towards a perfect free-flowing exhaust for the stock turbo

Also more on my slippery slope ideas, there's lots of other great things you can do mod-wise for really cheap. I only paid $250 for my magnaflow catback (slightly used) and $100 for the megan testpipe I mentioned, and its still doing me well at 480whp dyno dynamics...

Pssss... don't tell anyone, but I've been sort of "e-stalking" both of you lately... all the info I've gotten is from your posts LOL!!!
Thanks guys! I will definitely try all your ideas. I fell in love with the MAP Downpipe from one of your posts, but since I can't sell 600 bucks for the ceramic-coated one yet...
question scheides, how loud is the magnaflow? I'm thinking of keeping he stock one for now and instead of shelling 200/300 for a cheapo/used one I'd just save it for a better one later... I also want a navi bad and a friend from here is hooking me up with an awesome price I just don't have the cash right now lol
Kraka, I called Cobb today but one of the guys told me they don't have stock flash maps for e85... is there a link here in the forums that I don't know of? lol... I also have to buy the accessport from them right? or maybe look around and see if I can get a cheap used one

The magnaflow is perfect--not too loud for cruising and obviously it flows plenty
Best bang for your buck exhaust for the X hands down. Don't worry about the downpipe if you're on a tight budget, just put it on your wishlist for later
Actually, I'ma save on the injectors since a friend's going to hook me up with some 1000cc cause he's going the 1300cc route soon... so now all I need is the Walbro right?

Do you have a good tuner near you?

I've read how so many guys end up doing the e85 conversion and move on to bigger turbos and built motors, only to wish they would've stuck with just the e85. I'm pretty much sold on it as well.
OP, if you're interested shoot me a PM, I've got a great condition defi racer boost gauge I'm looking to sell

I'm on E85. Don't use the Cobb OTS maps unless you are running the exact setup its tuned for.
It's really easy to put in the 255 fuel pump without some crazy kit. It plugs in. Just isolate the pump with fuel tubing and zip ties to the side of the factory fuel bucket.

^This is actually a great call, OTS maps are nice if you are sticking with a really basic setup.

Hm... I have two/three tuners around the area but I don't trust them lol... I've worked with Greg @ Machine Gone Wild (MGW) and the next thing would be to go to Orlando (260 miles away) and get a tune from this place that supposedly works directly with Cobb

And how are you doing with mileage to the tank? any big decrease from 93 octane? just curious
Also I heard you can't sit the car for a long time (a month or more I guess) without driving it if it has e85 cuz stuff can corrode is that right?
sfearl1, you've been pm'd sir!... If I don't get it and save me the cash on it like scheides said, then I might get it for a friend who wants one asap, so check your pm inbox!
