New Evo, winter damage prevention tips?
New Evo, winter damage prevention tips?
Hello everyone, I just got a new WW Evo GSR yesterday, and i must say, im addicted to the car. Coming from an Escalade, its like night and day.
Anyway, Im getting a clear bra installed this week, Wash and maintain my cars religiously, but I want to keep this thing Rusting, undercarriage and all. I read that they use waxoyl in the car to prevent the car from rusting from the inside out, but also read that some people get the car undercoated with another oil based coating, some people spray the car underneath with wd-40, and some just wash it once a week and do nothing.
I live in god awful buffalo NY, so winters and salt are brutal. Any tips would be appreciated! thanks!

Winter tires so you don't need bodywork from sliding into trees and/or other cars. Regular washes to keep salt off the underside. Evos are an absolute tank in the snow, with good tires (Blizzaks, wintersports, etc)
Once or twice a year, take a 3inch paintbrush and lightly coat all exposed areas under the vehicle with a layer of gear oil. Doesn't matter which kind but the thinker the better so it won't drip off.
This tip was shared with me years ago and it works great for preventing rust.

Hmmm, that sounds like a good idea. But I can't help but think how to make it more efficient...
How about: pour a large puddle of gear oil and drive through it at 75 under full boost?
OK, maybe not...
