Looking to purcahse an Evo X
Hey guys, im looking to purchase an Evo. I have been looking at the 2008 model because i heard that was the best year for the Evo X not sure if it is or isnt so bringing that question to the Evo community. Also im only 17, 18 tommorow and this is going to be my second car. I have a mazda 6 now and im looking to mod the Evo X later down the road and i heard that the MR Edition isnt the best to mod. That true or not? I like the paddle shifters and all in the MR edition but then again i want to mod it later down the road, since now i wont have money because ill be paying off the loan needed to get the car. So should i go with a GSR or MR edition? Any help on modding the car would also be helpful. Im not sure how to mod the car and what to do to increase the Horsepower and etc. So any help there would be helpful for me down the road. All tips are appreciated and thanks for the help guys.
Thanks,
Alex
Thanks,
Alex

Not trying to be a dick, just use the search though. There has been massive amounts of threads about looking into a new EVO. But other than that... go with a 2010 X. Multi color display was enough for an upgrade. For me that made me getting the 10 over 08.
When it comes to modding, the gsr seems to be ahead of the MR due to tranny but the thing is... If you arent planing on breaking 400 whp/wtq the MR handles it just fine... After 400 you gotta change clutches and get SST cooler etc... Same thing on the GSR for me as well. If I am breaking 400 trust me I will be adding all the reliability mods I can extra to keep everything working and not giving me massive headaches. GSR is a bit more mod friendly but if you are going for really big numbers...
I know you will be paying off your debt but get a cobb accessport and upgrade to stage 1 ASAP. Its a bone stock map off the shelves from cobb and it makes the car a brand new one... The rest is pretty easy, exhaust etc... Just sit down and do some research via the forums and especially the vendor section. Make yourself a list of upgrades and what not. Then you will decide if you want to the get them one by one or all in once. Its a personal choice.
