my mind is blank

ok so i went to a dealer and decided between a 08 evo x mr with 30k and a 2011 base sti. i went home with the mr hopefully i made the right choice. but now from driving my 07 400+ hp wrx to this mr i feel slow. i still have the warrenty on the mr but idk what i can do to it to make it alittle more peppy but i dont want to void the warrenty. any suggestions? i deffently want to do the 600hp ssp upgrade cause this is my dd but still want to make power and race the mr at auto x events and road america. idk im lost the car has a cat back exhaust already. so what should i do next?

Talk to the stealership and see what mods they will accept and still honor your warranty. Hate to break it to you, but its going to be hard/impossible to break 400whp and somehow magically they honor your warranty.

You wont break 300awhp on a dyno without losing the warranty.

all they said was do what you what but if we prove that the mod was the cause we wont cover it. so three people told me to do what ever i wanted BUT keep in mind if it makes it break it might not be covered. so my thinking is ill keep stock compents and if anything breaks switch and bam!

also what mod whould i start with thats the best bang for the buck? trans cooler from ams? upgrade intercooler piping? my plan is to just simply stay stock as possible but unrestrict the car. Then take advantage of the sst trans.... if i get 330awhp ill be happy.

it's not your mods that will kill your warranty, it's the tune

I have seen on various posts here that some stealerships are ok with IC piping and a catback. As I said earlier, I would check with them and see what they will be cool with. If your worried about voiding the warranty though, i wouldnt set high expectations.

They're just quoting you the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, they cannot void your warranty unless they can prove that your mod was the cause of any (potential) damage. You will be fine with the basic bolt-ons (exhaust, UICP, intake, etc) but these will not yield the gains you're after. The old cliche you have to "pay to play" is fitting for this situation.

pretty much sums it up. Also if your going with the SSP clutch kit you might as well get the SSP trans cooler also. I would do the clutch kit and the Trans cooler all in one but i dont have $3500 to spend.

I would get either a high flow cat or test pipe and tune. That will net you the best gains and won't break the bank. That should give you a VERY noticeable bump in power..

the car looks like it has a test pipe and a cat back on it. i dont know what company or anything like that so. i figured id spend the 2500 to do all intercool pipe, the ssp transcooler, bov, turbo inlet.cai, etc. the car has 27k left on the warrenty so ill save until it runs out then just do the trans from ssp thats the first thing ima do. take advantage of the true potential of the sst trans.

SST in plain jane normal auto mode is slow. Its set to save you gas. Uphill onramp + 6th gear + 40mph = not fun.

OP, I'd make sure there is a good tune on it.

the OP is worried about voiding his warranty.. if our cars are tuned, will dealerships still honor our warranty if it's tuned back to the original settings?
