Absolutely loved the z...except $3,000 worth of mods got me 272lbs of torque at the rear wheels. So I left the moneypit for something that responds better to mods

I loved the Z, had great memories and auto-x sessions in it, and it is the best looking car in the price range, BUT

Got my gsr, and as I drove away from the lot, I literally and metaphorically did not even look back! I love my evo, already got an ets intake on the way! It's everything the Z wasn't that I was left wanting. Besides, I went three years without a trunk! People say the evo trunk is small, but hey, its new to me! You can put stuff in it, it's ridiculous.

My gsr:

One question, why get a boost guage? What's the point? Should I wait for after the uicp/licp, tp, downpipe, exhaust, ecu tune to get one?

Peace!

I felt the exact same way when I left my G35 for my X GSR. Congrats on the new toy!

EDIT: I'd wait until you get a tune to put a boost gauge in. In all honesty, I just use my Cobb AP as a boost gauge and probably will until I get all my bolt-ons and a custom tune.

My first mod was an ETS intake and I regret not getting tuned for it right away. Nearly at every traffic light, the car was shaking and felt like it was going to die. It sounds sick though!

I did the same thing too with my beloved G35 that was heavily modded. I will admit that I shed a tear once I was away from the dealership though. Congrats on a very beautiful GSR.

Another NE Ohio Evo owner??! Welcome to the forum. The best part apart having an Evo around here is the local support/resources we have. It's the best in the country IMO.

Were you running that TiAL Q BOV? Any vent to atmosphere blow off valve will do this on a stock air meter.

Yeah i thought the low idle problem was from not putting on the heat shield or getting an aftermarket bov.

I was hoping this was the one mod I wouldn't need to tune right away for lol.

Are you talking about Buscher racing? I heard incredible things about them.

get a boost gauge. its cheap, and good insurance. if your not tuned, it shouldnt be a big deal. but its good to have so you know if something is wrong. for 60bucks plaus a 30 buck pod you can have a gauge mounted. if you have a boost leak, if your overbooster, vaccuum problem etc, you will know before something is wrong. it was one of my first mods. (necessary, no, but you should still get it)

and like everyone has or will say, if you get an open filter intake, you should get a tune. our cars do not like messing with the intake/maf without being tuned. i would personally save up more money, get some other things (mbc, exhaust, lipc etc) and then get tuned all at once.

read the modding for dummies, modding 100 at a time, just bought an evo etc sticky threads. very helpful and you wont get flamed.

congrats on the purchse! you wont miss the Z for long i can guarantee you that sir!
