Because my gt500 was about the same weight as my 4runner and handled just as well. The gt500 was great for spinning tires and going straight in perfect weather. Have had my '11 evo for over a year now and love it! Best of both worlds (compared to my old cars) sold the 4runner and gt500 and bought the evo...plus it's about 1/3 the insurance and property taxes.

1. I've wanted one since before they came to the US (back when I had an eclipse)
2. I wanted a DD that I could track on the weekends
3. Wanted something capable of being driven year-round in the northeast
4. Need to transport the kids occasionally
5. Like much better than STi (and there are LOTS of those around here)

I was tired of getting stuck in the snow with other performance cars. AWD + Turbo = awesome

I bought my Evo X because my STI blew up and the more I read about it the more it seems like they just keep doing that if you build them. So I decided to switch platforms.

this was one of my reasons, i had a 96 EK hatch B18C5 turbo. i had a WRX wagon as my family car when a generous Ford Explorer driver decided to share her front end with me the insurance company totaled my car. i needed a down payment and after funning in the civic for the summer i wanted a car to put my son in with out having to drive the wife's truck(honda pilot) so the EVO was a clear choice and all is right with the world!

Had a '09 GTS, wanted AWD, so I got a '10 Ralliart. Got tired of the SST, bought a '11 GSR!

Since I saw the new design in 2008, I knew I wanted one...

I wanted an STI hatch for the snow but they wouldn't let me test drive one. So i said FU and went to look at the EVO. I am so glad i did because STI's are a dime a dozen around here and the EVO looks so much better.

Why? Because driving a Government Motors Chevrolet made me feel like I was cashing federal unemployment benefits without justification. The fact that my Camaro would randomly catch fire at busy intersections was not a factor in my decision to purchase an EVO.
