For those with aftermarket seats

I searched but couldn't find an answer, but I just got new seats for my car but they dont have airbag sensors in them so of course I get the light. So two questions. One if I do happen to get in a wreck will my airbags deploy? Two how can I get rid of the light on the dash. I have inspection in another month and I need to have the light off. Anyone have any suggestions?

You're airbags will not deploy as the car thinks it's unsafe. You need to find out how much resistance the air bags were providing and getting a dummy resistor.

Where do I get that from? And how do I find that information out?

I'm not sure the first part of the above is true. The light is indicating that the is a malfunction with one of your airbags (it's missing) but that typically does not cause the entire safety system to shut down. The sensors are independent of each other, that's why only certain bags will deploy in an accident.

The second part is correct, and there are posts as to how to run a resistor across the connector to shut off the light.

Radioshack will sell the resistor. Search the forums for the info. I believe it's a 3.3Ohm, but it's been a while so make sure to verify before using that rating.

Something between 2.0 and 3.3 ohm will work (start with the 3.3 and then come down until it stops the light), but the key is making sure that they are at least a 1/8 watt resistors, with 1/4 watt being even better.

Do not be a pinhead and hook a multimeter up to the airbag to measure the resistance. Those things take very little current to fire and most multimeters will trigger them.

Every airbag is independant so therefore the airbags will come out except for the seats airbags .

If you have a resistor, the dash light won't be on anymore. The airbags on the other hand, will still deploy from what I've read.

Your passenger seat will still cause an error to be thrown unless you reuse the weight sensors or somehow trick them. I reused them.
