new guy, making a plan....

hi, let me start by saying sorry to mods if this is in the wrong forum.

i have an '11 GSR and my goal is anywhere from 320-350whp and 320-350wtq
reliability is huge because i live about 5 hours from the closest mitsu dealer and id also like the keep my warranty so if the car looks similar to stock my life will be easier. heres a list of mods id like and let me know if im dreaming or not...

-works panel filter
-ETS tbe (dealer said it was fine with that)
-ETS UICP
-Cobb turbo inlet hose
-Cobb AP so i can return to stock tune
-custom dyno tune from AMS assuming my afr is normal after those parts being installed and i can go a few weeks before my trip to chicago

i'd also like to know if i should really look into a boost controller (mbc or ebc)or just use ecu controlled boost pressure, im open to suggestions. i realize ams uses a mustang dyno but lets pretend ill be on a dynojet.

thanks.

Get a 3-port boost control solenoid, but stay ECU controlled, no reason for external boost control. Your parts list sounds mostly good. I'd personally opt for an aluminum UICP to save weight and retain less heat though (Nisei, Cobb, AMS, etc.). I'd also do an open element intake that retains the stock MAF housing rather than a drop-in panel filter (AFE, Cobb, ETS, etc.).

I'm shocked a dealer said a turboback exhaust was ok though. Are you sure they realized you meant a complete turboback and not just a catback?

You should be able to hit your goal. I agree with Kracka, aluminum pipes are much better than steel. Get as much weight out of it you can, they are tanks to begin with.

I have the Grimspeed, it's nice. I like the mounting bracket it comes with. It basically just controls increased boost levels more effectively than the stock 2-port solenoids do.

Weight is weight, especially above the center of gravity.

^Just received my ETS UICP this past week, the shipping weight was 10lbs, I'd say the pipes, couplers and clamps are a minimum of 8-9 pounds. Sure, a bit heavy but the price and quality is right...

I too am shocked your dealer said a turbo back exhaust is fine.

Can you just weight the pipe alone? Also does anyone have an aluminum one they could weight so we could compare?

in alberta, canada there are no emission requirements unless u buy a car 10 years or older. even if i own the evo for longer than 10 years i wont have to get it tested. sooo the dealer isnt worried about by-laws, and unless they can provid physical evidence and proof that my mods caused a failure my warranty is valid. try as they may they have to present undoubted proof. although he did say a tune will completely void the car because mitsu programmed the car to run safely within its means.
