To the average person, when asked what kind of car it is, they respond by saying, "Oh". I don't think any non-enthusiast is impressed by an Evo or any other Mitsubishi product for that matter. When I tell people that I traded in a G35 on one of my Evos, they think that I am nuts. On the other hand, enthusiasts appreciate the car for what it is. The Evo certainly garners more respect than a Civic, which I used to own.

When it had my S2000 it was the front seat passengers of the minivan staring at the car...now it's the rear occupants

Not a Bimmer

Ironically, I got mine precisely bc it wasn't a bimmer. I didn't care for the a-hole MBA connotation of the bimmer, ubiquity of the A4, or suburban female vibe of c-series. Also I like the stealth wealth vibe of the X MR.

I'm married so not looking to pick up models ;-). That said, if ur goal is tang, evo is not gonna get it for u and may repel it. If u only care for getting chicks (and I respect that) get a 3 series.

There's only one benefit to dating (working) models; they weigh less.

In my group of friends because there are 2 WW 2009/2010 lancer GTS.
None of the non-car people cared since they all thought that mine is just a third lancer and my blacked out grille and my giant wing and the recaro seats are just part of the 2011 facelift, they even think my car is cheaper than the other 2 lancers because mine doesn't have navigation and both of my friends' had them.
At first I was really bothered by that since I paid way more for my evo but now I start to get used to since I love my evo so much and I don't care what others think.
And I just totally ignore how others say a 3 series or C class is better than my car.....

As others have said, only car enthusiasts readily appreciate the car. I think not having a wing keeps me even more under the radar, which I'm okay with. Yes the blue is loud (and easy to find in parking lots) but to the untrained eye most onlookers probably just see a Lancer.

I enjoy the element of surprise, if you see a Ferrari doing triple digits on the highway, you probably wouldn't be surprised. To see a 4-door sedan become unleashed when signs indicating "curve ahead" appear as the driver behind you sees you speed up through the approaching curve can only leave them baffled.

I don't care what others think of my car, I love it, but I don't mind getting 'how'd that car do that...." looks once and a while.

Since you've compared the Evo X to a 458 Italia in previous posts (as another poster said, you're really comparing apples to penguins here).. if you've got the cash just buy the Ferrari and good luck trying to pick up super models.

If you're just pipe-dreaming about the 458.. buy the Evo, and have fun meeting all sorts of random dudes that like cars.

If it helps, think I remember reading a recent study that said women are more attracted to men that drive European cars.. so if that's what you're after in a car, just buy a BMW or Mercedes and call it a day. Or if you want something sportier, go for an M-series or AMG variant instead. Or maybe just try a different aftershave.. it's cheaper
I wouldn't post a thing like this if I'm looking to buy a car. In that case I will be looking for data and test driving myself, plus EvoM is certainly bias on this kind of opinions.

I posted it because I always try to figure out things that I don't know or I am not sure.

There's an interesting follow up question: what kind of women would be attracted to an evo? I'm thinking they'd be the opposite of model.

From my own experience, I wouldnt even want to pick up "that" chick who knows and wants to be in my evo but thats a different story (personal opinion). if you want to pick up that shallow snubby std filled hoe, you will need to have a porsche, lambo, ferrari, maserati etc... Even a GTR wont cut it for them if that is what you are looking for...

In general, I am with MAS2377TECH completely. I dont give a flying donkey sperm what people think anyways let alone care about it with my baby.

To sum up: Evo and GTR are dude magnets, "status symbol" vehicles such as ferrari/lambo etc are chick magnets.
I agree with you. I've been thinking of this for a while and proposed that while cars are mostly unisex, guys and girls generally have different ideas about what is a nice car. For the magnet purpose (don't judge me, I'm not that kind of guy), I think guys should drive cars that are "prestigious" and artistic, while girls should drive rough, brutal performance cars.

Can we further infer that cars tend to attract people like them, just as puppies tend to attract buyers / future owners like them, lol?

I always get asked "what kind of car is that?"
I say "an EVO"
And then I get asked "where'd you get an EVO?"

I guess it's a line from Fast and Furious.....

If u buy ur car for the enjoyment of others and not for urself, u made a bad choice.

Sure, buying BMW/Benz/Audi "could" get u tang, then u sure has no confidence in urself. I have beater cars before and picking up chicks wasn't a problem. Don't get me wrong, I have owned cars that's girls would just love, but I actually go to the trouble of borrowing my mom's van across town to use on the first date just to see their reaction. If they don't even see that they're in a van and still have attraction, then the next date, they would actually see the cars I own...yes, I have more than one, evo x and 350z. But if they act like they r gonna get sick just by riding in my moms van, then it will never work out. It's a way to weed out the superficial from the real.

Anyways, I don't give a flying f@ck what others think about my rides. Some think I bought them coz I want to show off, but in reality, I bought them coz I want them, and it's necessity (I need a back seat). If I want to show off, I could easily bought an amg Benz or an m-class BMW...but to me, those r for people screaming "hey look, I'm better than you!" I like the performance an evo. Awd is just so much better than fwd or rwd...though if I want to have fun drifting sometimes, I use the z for that.

Actually, this just happened tonight, someone in a civic thinks they're a big badass and thought my evo is just a lancer with a body kit....showed him he's definitely wrong in his assumption.

^^^ exactly.. Never cared what anyone else thought. Drove what I wanted , which is why I drive what I have today. Dont care about what others think--older then most --but not trying be beat Civics-- If I even notice others cars. For the few of you driving into curves to impress the ferrari driver--he doesn't care--that was the fast and furious ...really? About the only thing that happens in this scenario is when he says "what an idiot" as you wrap your evo in full drift around a pole. Ive seen that happen more then once, its just....well stupid.

...If you driving a car for any other reason then for your OWN pleasure...you need to get a life... a real life. You can change cars but the only common denominator in your failures to get chicks, a power job or anything else the rt car is going to get you, is YOU.
