Quote: I wouldn't post a thing like this if I'm looking to buy a car. In that case I will be looking for data and test driving myself, plus EvoM is certainly bias on this kind of opinions.

I posted it because I always try to figure out things that I don't know or I am not sure.
Well you are definitely correct in your assumptions when you say that the evo doesnt draw as much female attention as a bmw or another sports car. The evo is certainly as fast (and to me, just as nice looking) but that doesnt matter to the automotively (i dont think thats a word) ignorant female types inspecting your ride. My car does draw a decent amount of attention from women (its lowered, black advan rims, big rear wing and loud exhaust) but it will never draw as much attention as my friends modified 328i (exhaust, rims, front and rear lip). For example, we went to pick up a few female friends to go out for the night and when they all got to choose what car they rode in, they all opted for the bmw, while their boyfriends all jumped into the evo. Its just what happens. If you are looking to pick up a lot of chick with the evo, get a bimmer. If you are looking to get a lot of enjoyment out of your vehicle, get an evo. Simple as that...

Quote: For the few of you driving into curves to impress the ferrari driver--he doesn't care--that was the fast and furious ...really? About the only thing that happens in this scenario is when he says "what an idiot" as you wrap your evo in full drift around a pole. Ive seen that happen more then once, its just....well stupid.
Same is true of women too. You try bringing up your car in a conversation trying to impress them, they will think you are a complete idiot and tool.

Like you said, you buy a car for yourself. This whole notion that other people give a crap about what you drive is a complete fantasy.

It's a real word. The spell checker just hadn't heard of it.

Quote: If u buy ur car for the enjoyment of others and not for urself, u made a bad choice.

...If you driving a car for any other reason then for your OWN pleasure...you need to get a life... a real life. You can change cars but the only common denominator in your failures to get chicks, a power job or anything else the rt car is going to get you, is YOU.
Most def indubitably!! I made that mistake already...a few of my friends were talking about my VIII saying that its so plain on the inside and there's nothing there luxury wise but I didn't mind ....later on it started to rust, so I had sold it.

I had figured why not try out a Bimmer...all I can say is booooooo....maybe because it was just the model I had but it was no fun at all and I didn't see what all the hype was about.

I almost fell asleep a couple of times driving it...literally because it was that boring!! So I traded it in an got my Evo X and look back and wished I had just fixed the rust on the VIII and kept that also but the Bimmer....that wasn't me. The Evo is where it is at!!!

Oh and on the topic, when I had traded the Bimmer in one of the clerks, female couldn't wait to take it home (eyeballing it hard).... So that right there tells you that she was sold on the brand (BMW).

Too bad ol South Dakota got a real nice snow storm the next day and she was stuck in the parking lot and I was chillin in my AWD snow butt-kicking evo!! From what I heard, she had the salemen push the car to help her get out of the snow.

You gotta just buy your car for your own pleasure, no one elses. If you are enjoying it...then forget about everybody else. You can't please everybody....and someone always has their own opinions. It also comes down to the fact that you are paying for it, you might as well enjoy it......

last night I got board and spent about 3 hours on autotrader... I guess it was possible to do that lol... Looking at this and that.. Then this thread came into my mind as I found a 2002 aston martin vanquish with only 4k miles on it for 71k... I am planing on getting a gtr within 6-8 months around in 7's whether be high or low...

If I was the whole "i got XYZ i can go pick up any chick I want", I would opt for the aston martin (beautiful looking vehicle anyhow haha) but I will go for the GTR... well its a gtr need I say more?

It is alllllll about what YOU WANT, what YOU care for... Everyone is surely titled to their opinion but YOU dont have to give a flying f*** about it

I don't think most people even know what an Evo is unless they're into cars. Should that stop you from buying one? No. You can buy a car to try to impress people, or you can buy a car because you like it and you know what it's capable of.

Quote: The cars you mention are like the ladies and people they market to .. shallow, fragile, emotional, high maintence and gaudy.
This times as big a number as there is. If you get a status symbol car make sure you've got significant cash flow to keep up with incredible high maintence people you'll be attracting. If they find out you don't got the money to hang, just a super expensive car - then you're not only out the woman but you're out all that money you dropped on your car as well.

*Forehead slap* I could have had an Evo!!

Sigh* Why do people insist on coming onto a certain car enthusiast forum and ask if we like our Evo's. Obviously we do for the most part, otherwise we wouldn't be here, and wouldn't own one. A car is just an extension of your personality. The way it looks, sounds, what mods you have done all coincide with yourself.

It shouldn't matter what anyone else thinks of your car. If you think you can ride up to chick in a ferrari and get some poon, then by all means go for it.

People do care about what kind of car you drive. There are really only three ways they can feel. They are either 1. Extremely jealous. 2. Legit don't care. 3. Think they are better then you. Like I said, if you buy a car to impress a girl then you need to go back to the drawing board and work on your game. A clean evo will do more for you with a girl then driving over 100mph. Most girls dont care how fast a car can go... but if they see that it's babied then she knows your straight

Just me .02

my fiancé hates my Evo. She's never liked Mitsu's or the Evo. She liked my STi because of the exhaust rumble though.

But, she has a Focus, and I really don't care much for the sloppy suspension, the loose clutch, and brakes that involve prayer to stop in time, so it's all fair game on not liking each other's cars.

i don't talk about my car to non-car people or even people with limited knowledge. but when they notice my winter wheels (rotas) or hear the exhaust they'll ask about it and then i have to explain myself. i don't like doing this because they just don't understand and the further i go into it the less they get it, usually.

funny thing though, just recently this foreign chick at work was asking me about my car and asked if it had a turbo timer!! lol! maybe because a foreigner from that part of the world has a greater chance of understanding this sort of car i dont know.

then, when someone has some knowledge, they'll ask if it has a v8!!! then i explain it's a 4 cylinder turbo and they are like oh thats nice. then i have to tell them stock 0-60 and quarter mile and then they're surprised

Quote: 2) The reason why this phenomenon inspires me: I originally didn't believe people judge others so heavily base on what cars they drive, because, as you can see, people are being hypocritical on Yahoo Answers and claim they don't care what others drive . Later my mind was completely blown because of some new experience: 1. I went to hang out with 3 guys and 1 hottie, and the girl got so much hots from a M3 guy after riding on him..... oh, a typo, I mean, his M3 convertible. 2. A mid-aged dude was treated like a prince by the girls in a bar after he parked his old Lambo in front of that bar. 3. I met a girl I like, but I was driving a Mazda3 that day. And she never really talked to me. 2 months later I happened to have chance giving her a ride, but that day I was somehow driving an Acura. Since then she's been very very sweet to me.
I think this sums it up for the OP.

I too have noticed this behavior of women giving some guys (that drives nice cars, or wear nice clothes, or have flashy jewelry, or whatever it is that you can think of to represent Social Status) the benefit of their attention and I guess "love".
I think that we, MEN, do this (get Status) for a reason... For god sake we go to war because of women. Most of everything that we do in our lives is to impress women and try to get into their pants. Its just what we do.. Now if you want to attract the right women for you then you make little tweaks to get that type of women to like you or even just to notice you. Its called Peacocking. Sorry, my wife is a psychology major from USC. She kinda schooled me on this when I judged her friend who I though, and still think, was/is shallow. But she also fine as hell! LOL

BTW, my wife thinks my car is a ricebucket.. I do not care.. I love my evo. I didnt get my car because of her.
What others think of my evo?!? Well, the guys know what it is and drools over it. The girls do not know what it is and its a conversation starter. But mostly no one cares. I think the Evo is more of a dick magnet than a girl magnet.

Yup, sums everything up. Change ur game, not the car. Car can get u small points...but ur game makes it or breaks it.
