Rear bumper dent!
Rear bumper dent!
I backed up into a car on my driveway couple days ago, long story short the cheapest quote I found for the bumper(unpainted) was $500 directly from mitsu. dealer and with paint and installation it all comes around $1K. Is there any place I can buy the rear bumper from except the dealerships? I'm super bummed since I baby my car and don't even a have a single scratch on it.
Any body shop can have that repaired. All it would take is some heat to push out the plastic to its original shape, body filler, primer and paint.
If you do choose to go the replacing route, you could find a cheaper option here on the classifieds. If you get lucky, maybe even a white one in good condition which would be a direct replacement, no paint. If finding one here doesn't work, ebay or car-parts.com.
If you are inclined on buying one new and OEM, here is an option from mitsu. This is not the final price because you need to take account for shipping, but still cheaper than $500.

None the less, there are less expensive options out there. I hope this helps and Merry Christmas

oh, and paying someone $500 for painting a bumper and installing it sounds pretty silly to me.
If you are at all mechanically inclined, do the installation yourself.
That is my $.02. Well, I guess $.04 now.

By the looks of that bumper, you should have it replaced! I own a body shop in the LA area, and I can tell you that if you were doing the repair work the right way, it would not be cost effective to repair that cover. If you figure the man hours to put that bumper back not shape, it would be more expensive to repair than replace. Not to mention the extra time needed do the job. I would also recommend replacing the RT bumper bracket as it is very cheap and you run the risk of ripping the upper tabs when removing. It would be a shame to put on the new bumper and then damage it when you realize that the bracket is not allowing the bumper to st properly against the quarter panel. A legitimate shop will charge you close to $1000 to replace that bumper including parts, labor, and paint. And they would not be ripping you off. You can try to explore cheaper options be finding a used bumper and doing some of the work yourself as opjohnsmith said. Find a reputable shop to do the paint work. DO YOUR HOMEWORK ON ANY BODY SHOP YOU GO TO! And worst case scenario, make a claim with your insurance company. You have a nice car, treat you car with the respect that it deserves.
