Well the other place called and told me they would give me a rental for FOUR days, but their techs still wouldn't be back until after Jan 2nd. Any rental after the four days, i would have to foot the bill. NO THANKS. I called Bell again to let them know that i wanted to just pay to have my car towed to them so they could fix the car. The manager, i believe Mark, listened and told me that he would try and help me. He calls back and said that he would get the car towed to Bell for free. Great. Mitsu of America called me after that call to follow up on my complaint. They were aware that Bell was going to pick up the car, AND Mitsu allowed Bell to put me into a rental. So everything is working out so far. My car didn't get there until the afternoon, so it won't be looked at until tomorrow morning. Hopefully the problem is a warranty repair. Will update later.

So they confirmed the timing chain came off. Rep said they ordered chain and gear(?). Won't know if there is further damage until they get chain. In the meantime, I'm stuck with a rental for five days....

note to self, @30k miles, have my timing chain replaced, even if I have to pay for it out of pocket.

Question: The car was driving perfect, then i parked it at home. Later that day it wouldn't start. If the chain came off, why didn't the car stall out before i parked?

Update: Timing chain was replaced, techs found that the upper head gasket and valve needed to be replaced also. Parts ordered. Won't be received until Wednesday. Until then I'm stuck in a Toyota Yaris, paid for by Mitsubishi until repairs are completed.

Yaris great on gas. But I've never realized how much the EVO gets respect until now. I drive in the slowest lane at a decent speed and every car on the road either tailgates me or tries to run me off the road in this Toyota death trap lol. I feel like such a target!

Oh and the best news, Mitsubishi has confirmed everything is being fixed under warranty.

Back in the day I had a 944 Turbo S and it did the same thing. Drove fine. Parked it. Tried to start it the next day and it won't start. Turns out the belt fault happened when I started the car for the first time that day. Of course I kept trying and trying, Finally I had my buddies push me down the street thinking I could clutch start the damn thing. Not knowing what the issue was, I did just that and proceeded to bend 4 intake and 4 exhaust valves. 17 and dumb!

UPDATE FIXED: Ok, so i just got my baby back yesterday. Very pleased with Mitsubishi fixing everything under warranty AND footing the bill for the rental. Car went down on Christmas, and i just got her back. Timing chain jumped off marks causing the car to be disabled. Timing chain replaced, along with gasket, sprockets/camshaft, valve/inlet, valve/exhaust. Car is running great. I'm at 59750 miles, thank god for the warranty. I'd like to thank Bell Mitsubishi for their excellent customer service during this whole episode.

Warranty will be gone soon, so i will be making that trip to see Ivey for some nice upgrades.

This timing chain nonsense is really a big heaping load of BS. So you have this to worry about, as well as your S-AWC pump taking a crap at a moments notice. Both multiple thousand dollar repairs. Things you should expect when owning a $35k car? Hell no.
