I owned a 2011 STI Sedan for a bout 10 month before totaling it. Had it running on corn with full bolt ons putting down 380whp/410wtq on a dynojet. Had numerous headaches throughout the modding process and decided to try out an Evo.

After totaling the vehicle I went to a 2010 MR in thinking I would enjoy the SST and turns out I hated it due to many factors I will not mention.

Traded the 2010 MR for a 2012 GSR and am completely happy with the GSR. I would say the only thing the STI even w/ the mods had over the GSR stock is the transmission and the obvious power difference. The overall feel and cornering of the vehicle is much better than the STI and if all my research holds true I will be making more power/$ with the GSR.

Evo X (2010)

The Good
- better steering response, but turning radius is big.
- suspension is nice and tight. On the turn (freeway ramp) you can feel the car is solid.
- quickness, evo has this quickness since we don't have to deal with clutch.
- seating, nice and tight for those who has small form.

The Bad
- trunk space
- higher seating distance from the car floor.
- MR-T didn't come with homelink/auto dimming mirror.

STI (2012)

So far...
- steering is a bit loose. you don't feel the response from your tire and suspension much.
- suspension, is on the softer side. turning is on the same ramp, evo is way better.
- N/A still in breaking period.
- seating, is more friendlier for larger form.
- lower seating distance from the floor.

Other than that is too early to tell since my subie is 2 weeks old and I only driven it twice.

Summary:
I like the evo handling, quickness, steering and seating. It does gets boring with pedal shifter and up and down gearing with dual clutch. That's why i purchased the subie after 2.x years with Evo.

Maybe I miss many things, but that's the difference I felt when I drove both cars.
The more I drive my Evo the more I realize how awful the turn radius is... It's truly embarrassing to park it sometimes. I also miss driving a stick sometimes but that's not the evo's fault... could've gotten a GSR.

ive been trying to work out some accurate figures for a stock evo vs stock sti numbers seem to be all over the place. but from what i can make out the sti stock dyno results are alot higher than the evo ? the evo seems to be more on par with the wrx ? can anyone confirm this.

Had a '11 sti and now a '11 GsR. Definitely better ride over all. I thought the Subaru interior is a little nicer, but driving any way "spirited" the Evo takes the cake.

i used to drive a full size truck so turning radius didn't bother me but i do know what you mean.

I have driven both of my buddy's Subarus quite a bit (The '09 WRX I borrowed for 3 days). The other has a 400hp bug eye STi with coilovers and dot tires. I wanted to be different and i wanted something techy. I went car shopping. 1st to the Subaru dealer where they pretty much blew me off. And then just down the street to the Mitsubishi dealer. When i set eyes on my phantom black GSR it was love at 1st site. It was a must have so I drove her home. I let both of my Subaru buddies drive it. The 1st one just flat out said "I'm jealous." :-) When the 2nd drove it, taking some corners hard and feeling the precision handling and then the turbo coming to life he was grinning from ear to ear. I'm confident I made the right decision. It's been a great 2 months and I still look forward to everytime i get behind the wheel. I've put the same dot tires on it as my buddy's Sube and it's amazing. I'm excited to soon do some power mods from AMS since I live right in the area.

Where did you even hear this? The GR (08+) STi puts down about 210 on a local Dyno Dynamics dyno, where the X puts down about 225. I know because that's where I had my STi tuned, as well as 2 other buddies of mine that also had GR's.

I've seen around the same results in my area as well.

As far as the current Sti and Evo, I've driven both and liked the evo's "feel" a bit more than the Sti's. They're both great but the Evo just has a "precision" feel the Sti I drove didn't have. The subie sounds so much better though haha.
