Routine Maintenance at 5300 Miles?

What needs to be done now? My oil doesnt have to be changed until 8000 miles. No mods outside of a drop in filter. Is it normal for this message to show (happened before at around 3000 miles)? I try to avoid the dealer as much as possible, but I will bring it in if need be.

Check the owners manual..

The message just goes off based on whatever mileage it was set at. There are steps just to reset it in the manual too. Just curious, why do you say that you don't need an oil change until you reach 8k? That seems a little high.

The oil was changed around 3500 miles. I typically don't wait the full 5000 to change it again, but that's what was written on the window sticker (oil change sticker).

So am I correct in thinking that this message only relates to oil changes? Im sorry for the ridiculous post, but I'm **** with the car. However, I don't like going to the dealership if it is nothing more than a reset of the computer in regards to this message.

It is as simple as holding the button next to the instrument panel. Just look it up in the owners manual.. there is alot of good info there. It can be set to go off after so many miles.

Who wrote that on the sticker? On mitsubishi tech bulletins they recommend 3k to their techs. I wouldn't wait that long in the early stages of an engine.

the 5k maintenance is bs just simple things like oil and doing some routine checks. Just start saving up for the big on at 15k.
