I have bought countless HKS products and have never had an issue with any of them. Since the item was used, there's a chance there was something wrong with it from the get go. Anyways, good luck resolving it.

Poor generalization by the OP. HKS products are pretty prominent in NZ, there's a reason for that.

i have hks ic piping, hi power exhaust, reloaded intake, and previously the ssqv bov and out of all of them yes the bov sucks on evo x but i really enjoy all the other parts. i love the way my exhaust sounds... saying all hks is "jdm crap" is unnecessary and a little biased if you have only used 1 of their parts imo

It's known it's a hit or miss with the HKS Bov for the X, so that "1" product that is at this point a buyer beware. I have a the HKS Hi-power CBE and love it fitment and sound amazing. My HKS turbo timer works perfect and was the first purchase I made for my evo. At the end of the day a bad experience with a product is going to leave a bad taste in your mouth, but for a reputable, long lasting company like HKS I would say it was a bad luck of the draw on what you bought. For the original poster as well judge a company based on a brand new product you purchase from new, not a second hand product or something someone else installed.

Like not proper install or product choice ...etc?

Must be some one else fault?

Hks makes good stuff. They are not gods, but a very respectable company.

I DID NOT SAY HKS BAD COMPANY

proper installation was done...just it did not work out...it was beyond my knowledge...

Anyway, HKS is awesome company....I love HKS vechicles.....so nice...
However, I rather than use american made products now on....

Like I say before, I am still pretty upset....because I wasted 10 hours of my off day...

Of course it was, because you're trying to run VTA without a tune. Do you even understand how the Evo X meters airflow?

First of all.

Second, the key point is that YOU wasted 10 hours of your day, not HKS. To make an evaluation of a company after buying a used product that they produced is rash and completely unfair.

I did for about two weeks, then switched to ETS and never looked back. I have had tons of cars come to the shop, go on they dyno with HKS stuff. Its not bad. Then they switch to something else e.g. AMS downpipe then ohhh its not looking so good anymore for HKS. The numbers do not lie.

Also this is not the first guy in the world to have problems with the HKS BOV. Its the #1 BOV that needs troubleshooting after install just to get it to work right.

1. Not so good BOV
2. Small *** dp
3. ok exhaust
4. ok electronics
5. Crappy suspension

I would rather just let the Nissan guys rock HKS and Mitsubishi can move to better products from AMS, ETS, ect.

When is the last time you saw a record setting mitsu using HKS? If people want to fanboy something just get some ARC and call it a day. BTW HKS USA has $$$$ issues in todays market. Does http://www.hksusa.com/ still work for you?

Not me.

I've already bought Technafit, FIC, Buschur, Mil.Spec, Walbro, MAP, Works, Tanabe, AEM, Prosport, CBRD, Forge, Whiteline, Bilstein and GTWorx after searching here for months on end reading about what worked for other people. HKS never really came up except for loud-*** exausts and ricealicious BOVs to atmo (stupid ricers).

I'm trying to think of a single HKS part that even made it to my "maybe" list. and I can't. maybe there's a reason for that. I have no clue.

but please carry on, and DO enjoy your attachment to HKS products, they're JDM, yo.
1. I read your comment perfectly well. YOU didn't convey that it was sarcasm (emoticons, etc). If you "figured some dope" would interpret it incorrectly, maybe you should have phrased it better?

2. I really don't give a **** about your roll call. Just because HKS never came to mind for YOUR build, doesn't mean that they're a bad brand to go with. Afterall, "JDM" companies' goals are completely different than Americans'.

3. I don't have any HKS products, or "jdm, yo" parts on my car that aren't 100% functional, sorry. But, if the exchange rate wasn't killing the US, maybe I would consider their cams. But in the end, the fit and finish in Japan trump 95% of the companies that develop products here, hence part of the reason prices are so high. That's not fanboy ****, just fact.

OP, everyone has bad days, and need to vent. But, understand that a lot of people on these forums are sponges that regurgitate stuff they see here. That perpetuates unnecessary harm to many companies that have to defend themselves for no good reason...JDM or not. THAT is why you saw the backlash from your post.

Now where's Mr. Heywood to chime in?

Think he's got almost every HKS part known to man on his Evo X
