Step 1: Get an Evo.
Step 2: pay it off.
Step 3: Mod.
Step 0: Never mention "stages" when you are on evom.net!

HAHA +1 on that. Also please don't say body kit, Makes me cringe...

First off make sure you can afford it. Take in consideration of everything!! Your payment, insurance, gas is a huge one since seeing past 200miles in the tank is a blessing sometimes, and also consider once you start modding, it's an addiction. Everybody has different opinions on what they should/want/need to do with thier cars when they get them, to each his own, remember that much. Also make sure you do research. It's very important, Learning about your car and what each part does is essential when it comes to mods and just knowing what comes next. And once you start modding, kiss your factory warrenty bye-bye, they won't cover it. Now after saying that...

My first mod was a Cat-back exhaust, but then I wanted to go turbo back and bought the downpipe and test pipe. Next thing I know I have a new AMS front mount intercooler, AMS short ram, Forge BOV, ultimate racing upper and lower hardpipes, all with only 3000 miles on the car. ADDICTING!! I just ordered 272 cams and a Garret GT3076R Turbo. And a Tune by Ivey. One thing to think about to is a tune, Just a simple tune on the all stock Evo X will go a long way. Up tp you whether or not you choose Open Source tune, or Cobb AccessPort. But best of luck to you, and make sure you research!!

No need to appoligize, it's not illegal to post that on EvoM. Just saying there aren't really stages when it comes to the Evo. All depends on what you are looking for.

Out of curiousity, how old are you?

It opens it up more. People do different things with the tune on an all stock Evo X. Some people hook up the Cobb AP and throw Stage 2 tune on it and they say it runs a lot better. A Tune is the biggest HP-Cost ratio available. You will see great results.

First thing I did was aesthetics, in this order;

Tint
Mud Flaps
Perrin Shorty
De-Badge
Stealth Front Emblem
Springs
Wheels

But some people prefer to go power mods before appearance mods which I should have done, LOL.

The best mod you can do is driver mod doesn't cost a penny. No use upgrading a car and not know how to drive it.

Interior mods, you'll be sitting in there 100% of the time so why not get yourself to where you want to be with the interior. That way you wont blow $600 on one part, and you can spend it in-cabin.

Then after that i'd say intake exhaust & suspension.

Why is this? I dont want to sound very noob or ask a question that there is already a good thread about but can someone point me in the right direction or answer?

The tune on a stock Evo will give you more hp? Will a tune give you better/worst/same mpg? Is the factory tune bad then? What is a good tune to get then on stock? About how much does it cost? Forgive my noobness

Tune going be around 400.00 but remember when you add things you should and sometimes have to retune , so another 400.00. best to buy alot then put it all on and tune

^^This is incorrect. don't listen to this. It has a good point on re-tune, but that's about it.

The stock tune on the Evo isn't "bad" at all. Just like every car from the factory it isn't capable of its full potential. Just a simple tune will do wonders. For instance, A new ralliart with a tune right off of factory will keep up with if not beat an evo in 0-60 and so on.

As far as the mpg, It will be around the same to stock, it's when you start feeding the car different mods is when the MPG suffers.

A good tune to get on stock? All depends on what you really want. But if you were to take it to shop and have it Open Source tuned, they would really only be able to give you a basic tune. You could instead buy an accessport(AP), brand new is around 600$ You can buy them on the marketplace on EvoM for around 300-400$ used. The idea with the AP is that it is a "self-tune", meaning you can just plug it up and play with it. Depending on what mods that you have on the car, you make/download a map that includes those parts. The problem with the AP in my eyes is that if you want a professional tune to be put on your AP it costs around 450$ but keep in mind that you just forked out money to buy the AP in the first place. On the AP, you can hold a ton of maps on your car and you can tune it to different maps within minutes. That's the beauty of it. It is built on stages with the AP, Stage one is usually stock with a different Intake. Stage 2 is usually a turbo-back exhaust and an intake. Some people actually take a complete stock Evo X and plug in the AP and put it right to stage 2. A lot of people say good things about it, saying it runs smoother and all sorts, but that's a risk you can take on your own.

To prove the other guy wrong with the tune pricing...
1) A tune at a good place, usually costs around 495$ with dyno fees and everything included. You can find cheaper, but you get what you pay for.
2) At most places with a tune, once you get your initial tune, they usual only charge you an extra 150-200$ for a re-tune. So if you were to get other parts installed, you can go get it re-tuned with those parts added to the map.
3) You should really get a tune with every major part that you instal. The car will not run like it is suppost to with everything on it and no tune. Check Engine Lights(CEL) will come on, It will purge at idle, and will run a littel sloppy depending on the amount of mods you have on. Now if you have the money upfront and want to install everything at once and then get a tune, then fine. But if you know you'll be happy with a turbo back exhaust and that's what you want for awhile, then get the turbo back and then get a tune. You'll be thankful with the gains. The stock ECU with no tune and some mods won't let it run properly, for example, If you have a turbo back and an intake and some other bolt ons, The ECU with no tune is meant to have the air ratio from the stock airbox and exhaust. With the new mods that you have now installed, The ECU doesn't recognize these changes 100% and won't run correctly. The tune basically tells the ECU, "Hey, These parts are new and they are suppost to do X Y and Z." Then you have a car that has everything running right with some crazy hp gains. That's as basic as I can put it lol.

Hope this helps!!
