Yea, I have only seen pics of 2 Evos in MG.. It looks pretty good though. Slightly different than GG. Like you said, it seems to have a little blue in it.

OK, since you asked; let's be blunt. This is one of those dumb things were you spend money and diminish the value of your car. It's impossible to re-color the engine bay and other hard to reach areas. When you sell the car it will be very obvious and no matter what you say, the car will be suspected to have been in an accident.

Thanks Lowkey.
My Dream Car is in my hands now. There's no question of me ever selling the car. Im already modifying so much of it that Im sure the value has already dropped substantially. Thar would be least of a worry.

Thank you though

I thought I had my dream car when I first bought my VIII. I dropped it for a car I had built up to be my new dream car (X MR). I say it would be a huge waste of money to repaint your car. Keep the GG and get some hyper black or hyper silver wheels. Contrasts the color really well IMO.

Just spoke to the Painter. $600 since no body work needed. Its going to be inside and out 3-4 coats of DuPont base coat and 3 of DuPont clear coat. Takes a day.

$600 scares me, plus nothing like factory paint.

I agree with others that WW is the best color way in the X. I almost bought a WW. They had a AG at my dealership and I bought that one instead. Why?

In my area all you see is WW. I have seen 5 Evo's or so in the last 6 months. 4 of them were WW. Then I went on an Evo drought. Besides mine, I hadnt seen an Evo in a long time. Just 3 days ago I was going to school traveling on the highway. Going the opposite way another Evo passed me up. Guess what color it was? Yep...WW.

I understand this is not the same for your area. Overall its your money and your taste so it doesnt matter what we say or think.

But agree with others. If you are going to paint go with a non OEM color. I have always been partial to the pearl white 3000GT color.

I agree with the contrast part. That's the reason I got the WW. I see lines on mine that I don't see on some of the other colors. The hood vents seems to stand out more as well. BUT I wouldn't paint a non WW just to make it WW. A quality paint job isn't cheap. In the thousands.

$600 and 1 day turn around? Doesn't scream "quality" to me. I'd reconsider.

600 is way too cheap for a quality job. I would think for a quality job you are talking at least 2 grand. But I guess if they don't do the jambs, tape the window rubber rather than roping or removing it, tape around the emblems, and no color sand and buff (which will leave you with orange peel and maybe little bumps in the clear from dirt). Also they need to remove the the bumpers or at the very least loosen them so they drop away from the body a little. MAYBE if you were repainting the exact same color I could see 600, but then it will still be on the cheap side. But a whole new color I can't see it. But it really depends on what YOU think. Everyone's opinion of quality is different.

EDIT:

Crap, I didn't even see the one day turn around. NO WAY. It takes a day just to mask and/or remove the parts that aren't going to be painted. And they have to sand it, wash it. Prep it.

Why paint...? Why not get an overlay?? If you don't like it you can take it off or when you sell the car, if you sell it, you can remove the overlay. The paint job underneath will most likely be protected. And the best part is, it's not permanent.. It may be more expensive, but it's an option. I honestly would never repaint any of my cars..

Trading in will cost you a lot more money. STi or Lexus pearl white may or may not diminish the value of the car. That's honestly one of the funniest things I've read.. You could always say that you're the only one with that color in your area, state, or possibly country. I honestly doubt anyone would do that though.

Thanks again for the responses.

Its cheap because he does it by himself and doesn't need to charge a high overhead to pay out a big company, workers or other high cost expenses. He has his own painting booth too. So it is right in line with other companies.

He said he works on it from morning till about 7pm. I have seen his work when I was getting my test pipe and exhaust done. Showed me around and he was actually doing a Camery in Toyota's super white. Quality much much much better than world renowned Maaco's even a faster turn around time haha. It looks like it just came from the factory.

Another thing mentioned was removal of trim etc.. Yes he explained that everything from the rubber to grill and interior moldings on jambs is being removed prior to paint, even the lights are coming off!
Actually im going to remove what I can just to help him out also. Another thing included is the aftermarket aero kit. Which is a plus because I get quoted $300+ just for the lip itself from many different places haha.

The DuPont paint is warranted for 10 years andrespray incase; respray is free.

Thank you, keep you Evo X'ers updated!
