I'm really not sure why your even asking for opinions since you seem very serious about painting the car anyways. If it matters, i would overlay the car instead of painting it.. Matte white is ridiculously good looking.

Now it's funny, people say WW is overplayed and what not, but WHY is it overplayed? because its the best looking color on an Evo x? of course! - same thing happen with the Evo 9, Charcoal was the best looking color and everyone had it.

 

Is overlay a vinyl wrap that is spoken of? If so, I was going to vinyl wrap it only to find out its 5x more than my paint job. Hawaii sucks on prices.

 

I say repaint it, but only if you plan on keeping the car forever like myself. I have contemplated stripping my paint and going flat black. The stock paint is crap and flying down the autobahn has left me with little nicks in my hood and side skirts. Figure I'd rock some primer for a year till I decide whether to go blue, gray or stay black.

 

Well...people say its overplayed because its overplayed. But its still the best color on the X IMO. But again, thats why it is overplayed.

I would pretty much take any color in the Evo except the PB. I have an all black Eclipse Spyder and just prefer not to do a black car again.

 

$600 is honestly not a quality job. If you want to save money than don't even bother changing the color of your car. The expensive price of a wrapping is definitely worth it for a quality job. In the end, it's your decision.

 

White isn't really that common around me either. It's about as common as any other color. +1 about the White Diamond Pearl that the Prelude had. I had it on my 98 Prelude and I loved that color. If you're going to make it white, make it a special white...

 

Just a comment to those who say WW is played out...how many of you actually see Evo Xs on the road? I live in LA and maybe see one possibly once a month at best (everytime its been a different color)....It might be popular among Evo forum members, but each of you live in completely different parts of the states/world so who cares how played out it may be on this site...In reality Evo Xs in general are not that common at all, so just go with what you like!

 

Yea makes sense. For the approx 2 months I have had mine and have actually been looking for other Evo's I have seen exactly 1 and it was the grey color.

 

I too rarely see Evo Xs around. I live in Hawaii on Oahu idland and this place is smaller than Las Vegas. I only one about once a month as well. I know of only 2 white Evo Xs so far. I've seen OB quite often more and PBs.

On a side note, Im picking up the Evo in a couple hours. Post pics then.

 

$600 in one day paint job sounds like quality! I know some good painters and all will tell you that 90% of a quality job is prepping the car. Someone that paints the whole car in one day is cutting corners somewhere.

 

Don't paint! But if so PLEASE PLEAE think about going FLAT pearl white. Look it up online there are a few cars ( Lamborghini ) with it done. Looks SOO good.

If she's new not to much prep needed besides sanding everything down. $600 is way toooooo cheap. Sounds like an Earl Shieb job! (popular company for cheap paint jobs hear in Jersey)

Don't get me wrong I love WW but what I love about GG is that you can either lean towards a luxury look or make it look really aggressive
