traction control

I just bought my evo X on Thursday last week and haven't been driving it hard, but I managed to take a corner fairly quick on my way home from costco today. When I was going around the corner, the traction control logo flashed up in between the gauges. Any idea why it did this? And, is this normal?

Sorry if this seemed like a stupid question. My previous cars have been, 89 Chevy S-10, 96 Mercury tracer, 98 Toyota Tacoma. All these new electronics are confusing me.

I didn't think that it would flash that picture on the screen.

Completely understandable in my opinion. Traction control is actually something that is mandated on all new cars now. You jumped quite a few generations from your previous cars and now have to deal with all the mandatory safety stuff that has been required in the past 15 years. Watch out for that TPMS sensor too
