How much abuse have your stock internals taken?

Just wondering if you guys are willing to share some stats so we can all get a better idea of the strength of these engines. Looking to see the longevity of these engines after holding increased boost and power. Mostly concerned with cars that are sometimes driven hard but are DD and not continuously beat on. We can all expect engine failure after repetitive abuse.

Mods? (to exclude rods, pistons, crank, etc)
Power/torque #'s?
Amount of time it has seen the increased power?
Miles driven with the increased power?
Longest trip without a break?
Problems that have arose; how long after seeing the increased power?

Looking forward to any input! Thanks!

Mine is stock and drive it mostly normally but i have the occasional "fun". That being said, I've had no problems so far *knock on wood*. I will start modding fairly soon, taking it one step at a time and doing it right.

In my personal opinion, if it's done right and don't abuse it, you'll be fine since I know for a fact that the engine can take a lot...

Simply refer to Ryan Gates' Evo x which was running high output on stock motor and held up very well.

Good luck

IIRC, he's on his 3rd motor.

Well, yes that's true.. but the first 4B11 actually held up pretty good for a while. Then the AMS engine blew, and now he's on his 3rd.

That's a part of the OP's question; what's a while? The 4B11, as anything, seems to have defined limits. Gauging by some of the build threads on EXF, exceeding those limits results in catastrophic failure (citing multiple data points).

I'm currently nearing 38k miles.. I have one of the very early production '08s..

Mods: I have a catback, test pipe, intercooler piping, intake pipe, and drop-in filter. Been tuned on the Cobb AP, an OTS tune fwiw, ever since around 8k miles or so.. I've never been on a dyno with the X before, but I'm prolly making around 300/300ish..

I do very regular maintenance, almost too regular (oil changes every 2500 miles, etc..), but do have my share of "fun" with her too. I have had no problems at all. If you treat the car right as far as maintenance, Evos are very reliable.

Edit: O yeah, I forgot the longest trip was about a 10hr drive to NC then to DC..

Had an FP RED for 2 yrs, it blew and now I have a GTX3076, lots of mods... stock block
400/389 on 91 oct and 489/480 on 104
I have about 45K
I race it at the track about 5-8x each summer.
Car has been increasingly modded since the first week I had her with 10 miles on it.
No serious problems, no timing stretch. I run 26psi on my DD map because the motor is getting older... I plan on building it around 70-80K

^^ Show off!

Mods: everything but a built block, cams/manifolds/turbo etc... Check the garage if you really care to.

Power/torque #'s: 371whp/358wtq

Amount of time it has seen the increased power: Stock for 6-7 months, a year modded.

Miles driven with the increased power: 20k

Longest trip without a break: No idea mileage wise but havent gone 2 months without a problem.

Problems that have arose; how long after seeing the increased power? Random crap, dump o2 bracket breaking, turbo wga arm breaking, injectors or fuel pump (still a mystery) flooded my engine thus no start. And bunch of random crap that I shouldn't type as I will get more pissed as I remember them.

Mods: AMS 750R /stock block/stock clutch/ stock cams
hp/tq: 418/318 on AMS mustang dyno
Amount of time it has seen the increased power: 7k with spirited driving/track use. Will be tracking this year.
Miles driven with the increased power: 7k
Longest trip without a break: so far so good. no problems at all.
Problems that have arose; how long after seeing the increased power? None.

Car has been modded since day one. The only time it was stock was when i was breaking in the motor. maybe for 400 miles or so. Its been driven hard, and to be honest with you, as long as you are informed about your car, and you know how to avoid being stupid than you have just relieved 50% of any issues that might come up. The other 50% being a good tune. And by good tune i don't mean your cousins friends neighbors former roommate kinda tune. I mean a reputable tuner that knows the evo x platform. Nothing is perfect though, failures happen.
