2012 GSR Stock Exhaust Pop Corn noise after engine shut off
why does it annoy some of you? do you guys turn your car off and sit by it for 30 minutes until the noise goes out? quit babysitting the car... park it, turn it off and go about your business lol :P
This.
Next thread will be to ask what that "whooshing sound" is. Oh wait, someone has already done that.
Reason I asked is because IT IS very loud that if we are both at red light you will hear it next to my car. I have own more than 8 cars none of them makes noise this Loud that when engine is on you can still hear it.
You never owned a circa-1990 Scooby Legacy, then, because those were the all time king (or queen - not that there's anything wrong with that) of heat-shield noise-makers.
Note that heat shields often fall apart long before the exhaust, itself, and a heat shield with half of its connectors gone will make a lot more noise than one that is still solid. I've already seen three cat heat shields break on various-year Evo Xs (albeit mostly from vibration). Worth a peek if it's really driving you crazy.

I've never had a car that hasn't done that. Just remember that the exhaust gets very, VERY hot, especially on a turbo car. When you shut it off it begins to cool immediately. As it contracts it will make noises. It could be the heatshields, or it could be the pipes themselves. Whatever it is, it is completely normal.
The X seems to be much louder than any other car I've owned, not particularly sure why though. Not exactly something I would worry about, but it's still weird enough that I understand your concern.
