CVT Clunk/Pop/Hard Shift

A bit of a back story here, I was rear ended by a Dodge Ram going about 20mph or so. There was not a lot of physical damage to the back end but something happened that now causes my CVT transmission to clunk whenever I put it from park into reverse. It only happens the first shift when the car has been sitting for about 30minutes, basically when the engine/tranny is "cold".

I brought this to the dealership and left it with them for a good week, they said they fixed the problem, that it was something to do with brake arms being loose and they tightened them up. This is what they typed up on the service report, stating the problem was fixed, drove okay, no noises. I get in the car, go to leave, sure enough it clunks again. This was after service hours so I was forced to leave the car and call them in the morning.

For the next few days they continued to check for the noise and said they couldn't hear it. I was finally able to come in and sit in the car with them, I started the car, shifted into reverse, and it clunked/popped/shifted hard, the service MANAGER says "Oh, that's what you were talking about? That sounds like a normal transmission noise to me. There's nothing we can do about it until it gets worse." I looked at him and said "So what you are telling me is, You won't do anything about it until it finally breaks?" he said "That's right." Below is a video I posted to youtube last night.

At 0:45s you can hear the noise and as much as the camera is shaking, you can tell it jerks me because it is shifting so hard. I am sorry but, that is some horse sh*t, this is not a normal noise and I shouldn't have to wait for my transmission to completely blow up before they fix it.

Reason I am posting this here is because we are not even 100% sure that it was caused by the accident, all signs point to it due to it not happening until after said accident, but who knows. Does anyone else have this popping problem? Anyone have any idea what the issue could be? Am I wrong for thinking that keeping it this way will cause more problems in the future? I would honestly love to shove this up the dealers corn hole and am thinking I should go to another dealership to get this fixed.

good luck with it. my friend has an evo 9 and the transfer case was on its way out. his car was still under full warranty, but mitsu wouldnt replace it until it completely blew up on him. Rediculous. I dont think I'll ever buy a new mitsubishi again.
