Speaking of AEM CARB sticker, apparently the AEM intake is now road legal for the 2010 models (not 2011 or 2012 yet). So I am just going to keep a print out of this in my car, once I install the intake.

Interesting result regarding the power drop with the lid attached. This seems to indicate that the snorkel is somewhat restrictive although that seems odd since collective surface area of the snorkel's narrowest point ~ equals a 2.75-3" pipe. This makes me wonder if the AEM with the lid on would flow much more than a stock intake would? Thanks for sharing the results!

The reason we tried this is the tuner had done this previously with same intake on a different car with similar results -- so he recommended and actually proved it as seen in the dyno plot.

So all in all, no lid for me

Yep, nice test

Btw if you do decide to keep the lid on, I believe one problem with the snorkel is that its high up in the box which makes it more difficult for the 'underside' of the cone filter to access incoming air, creating a relatively negative pressure at the base of the box. If you're planning to drill a hole in the airbox instead, maybe one at the base of the box would offset it slightly. Just an idea. Cheers.

Maybe you can make your own version of the ARC intake box. K&N cone in place with a mesh screen on top and side... If that's a stupid idea then just ignore that.

I posted about this awhile back, at higher airflow, the OEM snorkel has so much restriction, it causes the AEM induction tube to collapse:

Solution was to take the lid off the AEM box and problem went away.

zwampy aem's carb sticker doesnt apply to your car. so it might help you get away if you get pulled over, but you still might have trouble in case anything happens.

So either way you can do what ever you want.

I am curious though, what if you do a cutout on the top of the plastic? or drill some holes on it?
