Mystery Noise

Been up all night. tighening, searching, prying.

noise appers when the brakes and drive train is loaded. Such as coming to full stop at a light or stop sign. As the suspension unloads it makes a twang or click noise. after the noise is made that way when you take off again it makes the same noise. Started out of no where. It almost sound like something rolling into place. But the car is emptied/stripped.

Did some tight figure 8's to see if I could pin point it with a buddy listening. Noise completly gone. Could only be a couple possible things left.

1) brake dust sheild.
2) front sway bar or links. This is my next guess. maybe sticky/squeky bushings.
3) put the hood up and was mesing with my hood dampeners before noise went away.

Burnt out and tired not sure where else to check

also put in a new DP (turboxs) front pipe only. re tightened it. seems fine but could it be the heat shield above it. Should I remove it? or bend it away from teh front o2 and wide band sensor?

Car is a 2011. 30,000km not raced or autocrossed.

Holding off on coilover install till I figure it out.

I get a noise under load, but it goes away if I put a little pressure on the shifter, which makes me think it's shifter bushings or cables. It a tapping, sorta like super bad detonation. Happened around ~2k miles on the X, hasn't stopped now that I'm up to 10k miles.

It's super annoying. I hear a noise on decel too, it's similar but a little different. Mitsu tech felt they two were probably the same just as the engine rocks slightly on the mounts differently (he thought it was shifter cables or linkage where it enters the cabin)

Thanks for the reply. I may check the shifter cables asa well. I gave them a wiggle but maybe need to look closer.

Another weird thing about this noise is that during the rain storm it completely went away again. Just changed my tranny and transfer case oil and it was quite clean. Well at least Im getting ahead of the maintenance.

Could it be the TBE?

I think it's my down pipe. I push on my exhaust and squeaks where I bolts to the stock housing. It's tight as hell but is still squeaking. With the motor rolling forward and back this I think is it. Now what??
Solid exhaust hangers?
Grease the exhaust donut?
Stiffer motor mount?

One of the vendors on here sells replacement hangers. I heard good things about them too. Might help quite a bit.

Use Torque Solutions Hangers, they are a perfect fit and might do the job.

Did you install any aftermarket exhaust besides the down pipe? if you did especially the long pipe of the CBE. if you have a clamp, check to see if the bolt that makes it tight, if it is hitting drive shaft (get under car and wiggle exhaust from side to side). i had this issue and then i rotated the clamp and wala no noise. the solid exhaust hangers will generate more cabin noise, shouldnt need solid mounts as they also generate vibration and noise. you can grease the hangers might help, but check your exhaust conntection clamps. willing to bet that is what it is.

Well my exhaust (greddy) is all bolted together no clamps. But I did notice after tightening the hell out of the dp that the exhaust was sitting like 3/4 of an inch away. So I lubed up all the hangers and realigned it. Maybe that was it. I also noticed the exhaust hanger holding the HFC is stretched to hell. Maybe a new stock one would be a good idea.
