Test pipe on stock exhaust

Anyone using one on the stock exhaust? Resonated/HFC/or regular? Will it have any gains or just create a bottle neck effect? Does it change the stock exhaust tone much?

Thanks

Doesnt change a damn thing...lol. I had a TIR Resinated TP on the stock setup, didnt notice any power difference or sound. Then a few weeks later i added the AMS Widemouth DP, same thing, no power or sound difference.

I'm surprised do you think it is because of the stock muffler and pipes holding it back?

I did some checking and found an old thread two or so years old that RazorLab posted about some great success with bolting up a 3" test pipe to the stock system. Looks like it has shown some good gains for people and even better when tuned.

I would be using the Cobb AP. I am currently at stage 1 with only an intake. I imagine this should help keep things in order with the increase in flow. Just something I have been thinking about.

removing your Cat and replacing it with a test pipe should free up some flow. The stock catback isnt THAT restrictive.. its mostly the cat.

From what that thread talked about was that it only made the sound a little deeper not really louder. I also wonder about how bad the smell really is from the fumes.

Changing the stock downpipe has been done for a while. Look up Dan Bajalis' run with just an upgraded downpipe, stock catback, intake and I believe an exhaust cam and tune.

It might change the note very slightly on WOT. Normal driving should be the same, The stock muffler muffles the sound a lot... It has a lot of pathways the exhaust has to travel b4 it can escape out.
