Wideband issue or not?

Hey guys. I just installed my AEM UEGO and was wondering if y'all could help me out with a question..

When you are driving around and push the clutch in to go to neutral, does the UEGO just read "---". I use to have an Innovative wideband that was already installed when I got my first Evo, but I don't remember it ever doing this. My gauge reads pretty lean at idle, like around 15 or so.. Is that ok? I hit 10.0 in full boost too. Super rich.

The only reason I'm questioning it, is because I thought I screwed up the gauge on the install and thought I had broke it, but everything is straight now and seems to be working pretty good.

Thanks in advance.

Change your wideband to a Innovate MTX-L Wideband Air/Fuel Gauge Kit 3844 UEGO, I had the same problem with my AEM.

your clutch and your wideband should have nothing to do with each other, unless you're not paying attention to you AF ratio going to super lean or super rich, which can be normal. if youre under deceleration or if you are dumping to atmo with your DV you could spike rich for a few seconds

Doesn't sound like a problem with your wideband. AFR at idle should nominally be ~14.7 after it is warm, but will vary from there. When coasting you are essentially just reading air in many cases since the injectors are shut off, so ~20.8. I assume your wideband reads this as out of range so displays "---".

Does sound like your tune is a rich if you are reading 10.0 at WOT.

Oye. The '---' is indicating that the AFR is out of range. This is because when you go off throttle and fuel cuts out your AFR (air:fuel) goes to infinity. One part air to zero parts fuel --> 1/0 = infinity.

Yea. That's what I was thinking. I was just checking. I need to get a tune for sure though. I'm currently running the Cobb stage 2 OTS map, but the closest/best shop around here is booked until August.

Thanks for the replies.

Umm seems to me the wideband seems to be working okay from your short description. It should be stoichmetric at idle and off throttle it'll obviously go lean off the gauge as there's no fuel duties on decel....

10.0 is very rich. The Cobb OTS maps usually aren't that rich. I'd check for a boost leak or somewhere metered air is getting expelled before the throttle body.

Good luck.

That sounds about right. Him reading 10.0 most times on an AEM is the gauge bottomed out. More than likely he is in the 9s and probably has a boost leak.

Thanks guys. I'll check for a leak. I was building a boost leak tester already.

Yea man do it and post back. 99% of the time the WB is bottomed out its a boost leak if your still using MAF, and with Cobb OTS map I'm guessing yes. Also if your on an MBC make sure and take a couple turns off or you'll over boost.

Usually when an AEM WB goes out it stops reading mid pull. (eg. In boost it'll say 12.5 or something crazy and not change for seconds) if it reads anything for longer than a half second or so and doesn't change around the sensor is dead. Unless you tune is amazing and never moves WOT or unless its bottomed out obviously. It shoud dance around though.

Your in GA shouldn't be that rich. Some cars in attitude go rich, but not less than 3000' or so.
