There is no need for two specific tunes if you can trust yourself to stay out of boost. The off boost area of the tune will be tuned for mpg.

The only reason to have a separate tune for mileage would be when you just know you'll be boosting and want to minimize the losses.

Then I'd say to run wastegate pressure and higher timing off boost. That alone will be worth a few mpg but you'd still be better off not boosting at all.

Dude really? You've contributed absolutely nothing to the past 4 posts I've seen. What are you trying to sell in the classifieds ?

2 specific tune would be needed when ur running E85, and run out of gas and there's no E85 station in sight. Then u go to ur next map for 93/91, so u can drive around and won't be stuck.

Most I've ever gotten out of a tank is about 270 miles before the message came on. Almost got 300 out of it before I chickened out and finally pulled into the nearest gas station.

That's a given, he was asking about specifically having a tune dedicated just for MPG and nothing else.

So for each fuel he is still asking if he needs a tune for MPG and one for performance.

That answer is usually no, for the same reasons I gave above. Stay out of boost and tune that off-boost portion for mpg. You only need one map since it can cover off boost and performance.

The only reason you would need a separate "MPG" map, is if you want to reduce boost and horsepower, while still flooring it all the time. Makes sense for someone with bad habits, but for everyone else it's not as good as simply staying out of boost and running one map per fuel type.

Anyone get improved mpg after a flash or a tune?

In that case yeah. Why pay for 2 separate maps if one map can do both. Stay off boost and get better gas mileage, get on boost to get the power to the wheels.

I'm with u on this one. I think I read ur post out of context and just zoned in on the fact that ur saying no need for 2 maps and everything else went out the window.

Average 22 in regular driving, maximum of 25 and change, minimum of 15, depending on how I'm driving. Not too bad for the type of car it is. The last Mustang I had averaged about 18.
