400 WHP, E85, Stock turbo goal... realistic?

I'll start off by saying that this is my first true performance car and I currently go to college and I plan on using what money I get to mod my Evo. My main question is will a full bolt on Evo running E85 be reliable as a DD or will there be a high risk of blowing the engine or big money problems? I can afford the mods but can't really afford a blown engine..

If you can't afford to blow an engine don't even try 400whp.

If you go E85, stay around 27psi, it'll be 380whp but you won't blow **** up. My advice would be keep it very very tame until you can afford a mishap.

Yep, a conservative tune and full bolt on's you'll be in the high 300's. That's about as a much as the car will handle as a DD. Ask Murlo about how often his car actually runs

I pretty much have full bolt ons, + e85 just got dyno'd @ 352hp/330tq @ 27psi pretty conservative tune. Im fearing clutch will go soon but DD the car and is awsome!

I would not try to squeeze a whole lot more from it without digging into the motor.

It's certainly possible. This was with the stock intake (just a K&N drop-in), no change to the U/LICP, and with a 200 cell HFC.

When talking about a specific number like that, it's all going to depend on the dyno.

You could also play it safer and get a little bigger turbo and keep the torque under control but pulling until red line with the tune. If you can hold ~350wtq, hell even ~300wtq,all the way to redline, you'll be well above 400whp, and it will be safer for your stock engine and clutch. If you fry your stock clutch taking the stock turbo to 400wtq, you're already halfway to the cost of a turbo

So are you guys saying you think if you start gettin above like 350wtq you need to build the block up and get a heavier clutch? And about what do you think a setup with a bigger turbo making 400whp and 350wtq would run?

full bolt-ons on 93 i made 349whp 340wtq on a dyno jet, which is plenty fast, but the stock clutch will most likely suffer at that power level, just stay conservative as possible until your done with school and then you can start having some serious fun with the car(not like it isnt fun already)

Full bolt ons on pump gas will give you a good 350wheel. I wouldn't go passed 340wtq just to be on the safe side. Last thing you want is to blow your clutch. NO LAUNCHING either

i made 348 on a dynojet with just a TBE and a MBC and Tune (still stock airbox and everything) about 30k miles ago and for the last 3k miles or so im on ethanol around 400awhp with all the mods in my sig...my stock clutch is still fine. although i plan on switching it out for a twin disk soon i do think you can get away on the clutch if you dont beat on the car like launching it
