Question Boost Creep Question

We offer this product with your choice of turbine outlet flange, standard or 3D contoured. The standard flange has been performing flawlessly for the majority of our customers since this product's inception in 2009, but there have been a handful of customers that experienced boost creep when trying to run lower boost levels (less than 25psi) with upgraded turbochargers. In general if you are swapping out your existing o2 housing for this upgraded unit and plan to run 25+ psi you shouldn't have an issue with the standard flange. If, however, you just performed a significant upgrade (complete engine build, turbocharger upgrade, etc.) and would prefer to begin the tuning process below 25psi or if you ultimately plan to run less than 25psi we recommend the 3D contoured option to ensure you have complete boost control.

So this is what MAP says about the DP flange...I have the standard flange and noticed I'm tuned for 24lbs but I've seen it go up to 29lbs for a split second. After seeing that I floored it again and watched the AFR gauge...it stayed pinned at 10.5. RRE tuned it and theirs read between 11-12.0 NEVER went over 12.0 and it was pretty flat. My question(s) are...

1) Am I still ok w/ that boost creep if my AFR is only 10.5 which is on the richer side...

2) Why would my guage (AEM) read 10.5 and RRE have a reading of 11-12?

3) Would it bewho of me to go back to RRE and get my 1000cc injectors installed and run over 25psi (say 27ish) and see if what MAP says about the creep is true....not sure why you'd get creep when under 25lbs but be good when over 25lbs...Any ideas?

That doesn't sound like creep to me. That is just a boost spike if it tapers down.
Boost creep is when your boost hits and creeps up after the spike and when it settles to the set limit.

Say if you are set to 24psi... You spike up to 27psi when you go WOT and it settles back down to 23-24psi. Then it starts going higher and higher until you let off. That's boost creep.

What boost controller are you using?

Are you using the AEM as a controller in conjunction with the 3 port? Your grimmspeed should be enough because it can be tuned precisely for the boost your tuner is wanting to run.

As far as the reading on your AFR goes, it's all gauge/sensor dependent. RRE is more than likely using the dyno with wideband o2 attachment, right? You could possibly benefit from having John or one of the other guys taking it out on the road and log it to make sure that everything is falling in line with what it should.

Mike told me that the RRE dyno reads the afr a little higher than the gauges do. I WOT around 10.5-10.9 and he said it usually is 11-12 on the dyno.

No problem. Let me know how it goes. I'm a firm believer that being safe with excellent driveability is better than posting huge numbers and possibly blowing your turd up. I figured (as Hakmeister pointed out) that the numbers from their wideband might be slightly different.
