Parking in manhattan problems..

So i take my car into work every other day or so, and park in the horrible streets of manhattan. This one night i returned to my car with its alarm going off and didnt see anything wrong at first. The next morning i saw a huge scratch going across the front of the car. in the pictures you see it just on the right but it goes all across to the other side. Does anyone know of something that can take this kind of scratch off. it hasnt indented the part or anything its just a kindof scrape going across. Any ideas

Take it to a body shop or detailers and see if they can buff it out.

may want to consider bumped pads as well. people here in boston use them. basically fabric that lays over your bumpers from inside the hood or trunk to prevent scratches from people having no idea how to parallel park.

Dude I give you a lot of credit.

I was born and raised in Brooklyn, currently live in Fort Lee, and the only time my Evo has been in Manhattan is zero. I rather take public transportation to visit family in Brooklyn than drive my beloved car through that zoo. I cry when I see Ferrari's coming down those moguls on this paths we call streets.

I can't see the pic because Im at work (proxy setting), however I hope it can be buffed out. If not, there is a good body shop I've dealt with a couple of times in West NY, NJ that works magic with removing damage/restoring your car's paint/body to new.

Let me know.

Agreed.

I hate to say this, but the scratch is just the beginning. I spent years parking on the street. There's never an end to similar events.

The best thing for that is to rub some don't drive in new york on it.

Seriously though, I would never own a car I cared about in NY, I'm originally from there and took my car their once. That once cost me 1300 bucks and a dent from *** clowns bumper car parking. Never again.
To me, trying to maintain your car in NY is a fruitless task.

dude i live in Manhattan its the worst they literally park on top of you if they think they fit and parking garages are worse, a body shop will be able to buff that out, i placed tow hook in the back and bumper pads in front and i get protected people are horrible they have old beat up craps and they don't care about your new paint job or new anything as long as theirs looks the same

Problem is people in this city have absolutely no regard for anything you own.

The only time my car is ever left unattended is when I park it in the garage near my work(I park myself), and only because I park it completely out of the way always a corner spot so I can ride the line. Luckily, only a handful park in that section and never anyone next to me.

Bad enough the paint sucks and chips easily.

OP, do yourself a favor and either completely mass transit to the city, or park in a garage uptown and take the train to wherever you work. Cheaper, less traffic, and less of a chance of someone doing this again.

i guess i ll get a body shop to buff it out.

honestly guys after parking in manhattan for many years now, and its the upper east side, ive realized that you gotta know where to leave the car parked. That means not parking in front of the big buildings with door men up front because chances are, a taxi will drop someone off there and theyll swing there door open, also never to park on corners, because taxis usually drop people off there, and find a space big enough for atleast 1.5- 2 cars to park, and not settle for anything less. lol. ive done circles for hours looking for the right spot. this particular time i guess i was unlucky and probably 5 minutes to late or i wouldve left before this could happen.

and garages are the worst. just saying.

Also it could be fun sometimes rallying through the city streets and crazy taxis, as you catch all the lights. It feels good after..
