The cluster cost me $275 but took about a year of waiting until the eBay alert popped up. These are super rare. A color display from a ralliart or lancer GTS will also work but the gauges are different. The $175 was just for the odometer reset, but removing the original cluster and replacing it is at most a 15-30 minute job. It takes like 8 screws and a few brave tugs.

I found another place that does work with Mitsubishi dealerships in Michigan (specmo.com) that would do it for about $100 but with 2 day shipping via UPS the cost for me was almost the same. If you are patient or are near Michigan, that's a good option- they did the cruise control in my VIII when I lived there and did a great job.

I don't think it's a matter of them being cheap- the color displays simply weren't out yet when the Evo X launched. I'm just glad that they engineered it to be plug and play.

Nice! Thanks for the tip! I just contacted specmo and they charge $85 if you can drop it off or $102 if you mail it in. They said they do not need the original unit.

I haven't used it but this site claims to do it for $70 https://www.odosolutions.biz/product...amming-service

How to correct mileage/km-s without paying and shipping etc.
Hi
Kind of new here so I tought I would give some insight about how to update your km/mileage on a new cluster.
Fairly easy.

This is the Cluster that I had on my Workhorse 1.8 Diesel Sportback. Note the km-s on ODO

Now I got a new cluster with a better look and color LCD from some other sportback Diesel.

So this new cluster is fairly decent look and feels like a major update from the old one. Note the km-s are 100k out of spec.

So I did some searching and found the EEPROM chip code that the km/m are stored at. De solder 8 pins from both and solder the old cluster chip to the new one. very easy to do. took me about 10 minutes to get the cluster off from the car
and voila. now I just have 163k KM chip laying around. No point in soldering it back to the old one.
My RA already has an updated LCD from factory.

Now this is the old chip put in to the new cluster. Now the KM-s are the real original KM-s. Disclaimer. WILL NOT USE THIS METHOD FOR ILLEGAL ACTIVITY!!!

This little 8 pin chip is the place where the ODO is recorded on. Did this with a makita battery powered heat gun and soldering iron. The tip has to be fairly small after resolering I added a bit solder on each pin with the soldering iron. I got it into place with the heat gun and tweezers.

Hope this helps someone to not have to pay hundreds of dollars or whatever.
