your pan cant rust from the inside , its painted and coated in oil . maybe if it was sandblasted and left out in the rain. plus how the hell would e85 fuel get in you oil pan ???

This is what I'm thinking. Rust only happens with water. If you have water in your oil, forget E85 and fix your headgasket first

It is very common for oil to become diluted with gasoline and/or E85. E85 breaks down oil much more quickly though which is why higher frequency oil changes are required when running it.

Alcohol can speed up the rust/corrosion process, and by saying "fix your headgasket" you're implying that engine coolant has found it's way into the oil pan; engine coolant has rust/corrosion inhibitors on it.

THANK YOU KRACKA, not just another troll answer
It is a race motor that is run HARD, and I have oil changes after every race weekend. We do get quite a bit of blow though into the catch can, 25-100ml oil/vapor/ethanol every 20min race. Not really worried about it too much. Talking with other racers they are even starting to have problems with other Race gasses that contain smaller % of ethanol eating pumps, tank, oil pan.

Just seeing if we have anyone else on the forum found the same problem of Ethanol eating their oil pan .

I think i'm going to phone my contact at Moroso and see about getting a new oil pan.

maybe, only thing I've ever lost a HG on was a bike and I didn't run coolant, only ran straight water with an adder in it. So, I saw rust, but make sense.

Anyhow, I do agree that if you're running E85 (or not, I mean it is an Evo) you should not follow the 5k oil change recommendation. Consistent and frequent maintenance is what keeps high performance cars running at their best

Yup, we change after every race weekend, so 90 min of running/racing time.

then the concept of contamination long enough to eat through a pan coating to rust is a little absurd

I have put a new oil pan in each time I built my motor and so far I have never seen signs of rust on them, just specs of metal from failed motors lol. I have run E85 for almost 25k miles and nothing like this has popped up for me.

I doubt its rusting from E85. Moroso's is pricey but I'd totally rock it, baffled yum.
