Got an Evo, but was asked if it is stick or not...
The MR is an amazing beast of car. The SST is superb on so many levels. I however went with the GSR because i absolutely love manual and i feel that im actually experiencing the drive. some may feel the same way with the SST but i feel i get more of that feeling from that hard down shift and flying away. just my .02
EDIT: awesome vid Blade.

The reasons to drive stick are for an emotional driving experience. It makes the driver feel connected to the car on a level of passion, the same ways great sex keeps you with an ugly lover.

I know the more recent response said the SST is the "best" of both worlds. I disagree, the best part of driving a manual is that emotional connection I just mentioned. The SST will never provide that. But no one can try to talk down the SST's performance (unless you want 400+lb-ft of torque all the time)
I picked up a 2012 MR myself. Mostly it was due to the fact that my wife would be driving the car about 2 days out of the week, and she refuses to drive a manual (she wouldn't drive my supercharged Miata, so that's how I talked her into getting an EVO X MR). The MR is just plain awesome. The one thing I do miss (and maybe haven't gotten used to yet w/ the MR) is that turning into a corner, I knew exactly what gear I was in in a manual just by feel and position of the stick. The MR, I have to count gears or peak at the display sometimes. I think I am just not used to the trans yet.
I actually prefer the MR to the GSR... The only reason I was apprehensive about the MR is because of the problems reported with the tranny. I have a Ralliart so my car is like the little sister of the MR
Honestly, if people give you eyeballs because it's an automatic, tell them you'll race 'em and see if they still think automatics are crap lol. That is, of course, if you know you're running more horses than them! There are a LOT of racers out there that have automatics... To each their own is what I say. At least I can drive, eat, and drink while in traffic without having to juggle lmao!

I have a 2011 GSR, but I think the MR is a fantastic car. There are times it would be nice to have the automatic features of the SST transmission. Formula 1, Rally cars and Sports Cars went this direction a long time ago. On a road course, being able to concentrate on the driving and not have to shift means more consistency lap after lap. And, very few people can outshift the transmissions found in the Evo MR, GT-R, Ferrari 458, Gallardo etc. This type of transmission is really the best of both worlds because you get the strength of a manual gearbox with the ease of shifting of an automatic. Anyone with an MR should not have to apologize for not getting a 5 speed!
Once upon a time (in 1995) there was a F1 team called Forti Corse. Forti was the only team at the time (back when F1 had a ridiculous amount of teams and drivers running at the same time) that was running a fully manual transmission unlike ALL the other competitors.
Forti consistently finished in the last spots.
You see where I'm going with this?

I wouldn't trade my GSR for the world, but I know that the SST is a great alternative. I figured that I would give a dual clutch transmission a try (mostly due to a bad left knee), so I have one in my daily driver. It can be lots of fun and at the same time drive like an automatic when I want to be lazy like 95% of the rest of the drivers out there. Never drove the SST but if its anything like the DSG I give respect.
Yes. Absolutely. No doubt. 100%. A modified, dumped Evo with an automatic, even dumber. Total poseur. We've talked about this many times before. I'd be happy to expand on the comment, if you prefer, of one can simply refer to the plethora of similar threads. Apologies for raining on the automatic love fest.
I don't see any shame in my $40,000 car having using a system used in super cars.
I have the ability to shift when I feel like it, or let the car do it for me when I'm in traffic, or just being lazy.
Also I can let my wife drive the car without having to buy a new clutch every few months.

If u have had to buy new clutches every few months u guys are the worst drivers EVER
I've owned an mr and I currently own a gsr....that being said, the mr is an awesome car because of what it is. However, most evo mr owners have one not because they need it for track purposes, but because they can't drive stick.
I live in ny and I drive through the city all the time and having a clutch is no big deal if u can actually drive
I also find it hilarious that automatic owners use the whole," I can eat, drink, and drive all at once" thing.haha why would u even want to do that crap in a nice car. U should have just bought a caravan so u could take a nap in the back after u were done pigging out on ur fried fast food lol

That's a pretty big assumption, I know quite a few evo MR owners that know how to drive stick and still drive MR's I myself had an MR and I thought it was awsome, and to say or imply that MOST evo owners can't drive as good as you claim is a bit childish in a forum just saying......but I'm off topic I just think making assumptions like these is not smart.
I know where your coming from man. I had a 2010 x se sst and i switched to a 2011 gsr. People keep saying Dont listen to what other people say cause its your car. It sucks to hear when someone say your evo is an auto without them not knowing how much of a blast it is. I care about what people say about my car. Some people Dont know what their talking about. I got tired of defending the sst and telling them its pros. Dont get me.wrong. I didnt trade just cause of the negative comments about the sst. 50% was due to the repair cost of the sst if it breaks. 25% due to missing manual and the other 25% cause of the negative comments.
