I have a GSR (manual) would get an MR if I could afford one. Afterall, anyone whos gonna bash on your auto, just remind them about the GT-R.

Even though the Evo MR can beat so many cars on the road, doesn't it just make you look weak as driver to just step on gas with all the shifting done for you? Is there any pride in winning a race with driving an automatic? Is there any point in modding the car anymore?

Thanks
First and foremost the TC-SST is more of a manual transmission than an automatic. It is not your typical slush box. It has two clutches They change gears through the use of electronic hydraulic means rather than the use left foot.

I got to say we have a very supportive community here. It was nice to see that even some GSR owners defended the MR. The arguments presented by both sides are all valid and quite insightful.

Some bits and pieces I picked up from the comments:

-SST should not be look down upon. It is the future and many super cars are using the similar technology. Shifts are smooth and fast. Maintenance cost might be high in the long run. If getting negative comments from friends, a quick explanation on the technology should be sufficient.

-Manual transmission provides more driving experience and the feeling of connection with the car for the driver. Only 5 speed. Do not have to deal with negative comments from friends.

I use the car mostly for daily commutes and I like the much nicer interior of the MR, so SST should be suitable for me. I have learned a lot more about my car than before! Great discussion overall. Drop a comment if you have more points to contribute!

Here is a thought on the tranny discussion as well. I believe that Mitsu intentionally put only a 5 speed manual into the EVO to sort of steer people towards the 6 speed SST. Had the EVO come in a 6 speed manual version I would have bought that personally.

I love my MR, its fantastic and the main reason I got it, was simple. I could not get leather, and heated seats in a GSR. I was also enticed by the nicer wheels, brakes and auto wipers.

I know all those things may sound fufu...but as an older person I enjoy the lazy/ comfortable side of life.

I have a GSR and people always ask me if it is a MR …people will always criticize either choice, if you have a MR “but it is not manual” if you have a GSR “but the MR is faster or better”.
LOL whatever, I wanted a manual car therefore I got the GSR, but the MR transmission is fantastic.

I work for Mercedes and all of our AMG cars are auto's and a lot ar moving to dual clutch systems, they flat out rip!!! i just miss driving standard thats the only reason i went with the GSR. As long as your car puts a smile on your face when you're driving it, thats all that matters. Enjoy
