Opinions on 3rd Party Warranties
Ehhh, closest bigger city is winnipeg which I'm sure has one... but I really only went to Canada before I turned 21 haha. But Fargo isn't a bad drive. I'll have to see. I'll try to convince the local body shop to do it under warranty and have the dealership pay... either that or do it myself. Shouldn't be to hard.
Got all that in writing before I added the springs and spacers.
Thanks for such a smarta@@ comment though.
You got Warranty Direct to add a rider to your policy stating that they agree that your suspension mods do not affect the powertrain part of the warranty?! Seriously? Scan it and post it, please, because that is absolutely unheard of.
It was part of the original agreement when I purchased the policy. I dealt directly with them, not through a dealer, which allowed some level of control in the policy prior to me handing over the money. Would not have purchased without that. And, no, I am not going to post up a contract on a website.
I looked into warranty direct for my MR. I only wanted it to cover my sst. I talked to them about the sst and how if anything goes wrong the whole thing has to be replace. Of course the rep I was talking to didn't really believe me, but said it depends on what failed if it would be covered. I said what if they don't know. She said the root cause must be discovered. Looking at the contract the things that are covered are very limited.
You have to look through the wording of the contract very carefully to see what failures are covered. If a sensor in the sst goes bad and causes the whole tranny to be replaced it wont be covered. Unless you get them to write you a custom contract with some negotiating. If I remember correctly only mechanical failure for trans is covered.
If someone finds a 3rd party that will cover more than mechanical failure on a trans I would be very interested.

The key to the above is the custom contract, which is usually the standard contract with attachments, known as riders. What the sales-creature says to you is completely irrelevant (unless you're in a one-party-consent state and record the conversation). It's what you have in writing that matters, but even that might require legal action to get a slimey company like Warranty Direct to shell out. Not only is WD known for using their "if X fails and triggers a problem in Y, we'll only fix X" trick, but they also have fun with their requirement that you stop immediately. They denied one guy an engine because he coasted over from the third lane to the shoulder when his engine blew. They said that wasn't soon enough. (Fortunately, in this case, when threatened, they did pay for the new engine after all. But the guy had to wait more than a month and their rental coverage is pathetic.)
