i just installed mine two days ago and the difference was night and day. the shifts are more precise. it requires more force when shifting since i also bought the cable and transmission bushings. i had a problem with the transmission bushing since i forgot to put grease on it but once i did, it was so AWESOME!

This might be a stupid question, but could you perhaps get the twm shifter cage and put a works short shifter into it, or no?

I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to share a couple of learnings that might help someone out. First, you can purchase the plastic cup that goes on at the bottom of the shift lever directly from Mitsubishi, which will save you all the time/effort of taking your stock shifter assembly apart. Second, the TWM kit does not include lock washers and you cannot reuse the stock ones because they are not removable from the stock bolts. You can just buy four size M8 lock washers from your local hardware store for less than a dollar. <BR>With regards to the shifter itself, the difference is definitely night and day. The throws are much shorter and definitely feel more precise. However, be aware that shifting will be significantly stiffer. I have problems with my shoulder so it is making it slightly uncomfortable. I am sure this wouldn't bother the average person, just in my case because of my shoulder problems, but just an FYI

Hey guys just wanted to post that I recently had the TWM shifter cage and all I can say is WOW!.. This is exactly how the evo should have come out of the factory. Like i read a few posts before me the shifts have purpose now and you can feel engagement. I really do think it is one of my best mods thus far and I have quite a lot. So if you have a clunky shifter and have problems getting into 2nd or notchy 3rd this is the solution. Great product TWM..thanks for the R&D

Glad u like it man.

I have gathered some infos that 2014 EVOs probably doesn't like this TWM full replacement.
I have tried a 2010 X with twm full replacement before and it was Amazing.

However, I did the exact same setup on my 2014, and it is a ***** to shift. I also noticed that there is at least 1-2 members in Notchy trans thread stated that they didn't think TWM full replacement improved the shifting on their 2014 X as much as others have stated. So, I am not alone.

Not against TWM, but I personally don't recommend this to any 2014 EVO Xs.

Ok let me be a bit more specific on my full set up..My evo is a 2011 and I have a works short shifter kit with TWM bushing kit and TWM shifter cage....it works wonders for my car. I have read mixed reviews based on year but i didn't know that drivetrain changed that much over the years.

Nobody said the drivetrain changed.
But I am not surprised if they changed linkage, pivot arms or bushings for certain cars.
Here is a response I got from TWM last year after I installed pivot bushing:

to me
Hello Yifu,

This issue surfaces from time to time with certain EVOX cars, not all of them. During the manufacturing process it seems like 2 slightly different cables arms were used on the EVOX, our bushing works on both but one model has to break in a bit before it will perform properly. What we suggest to help the break in is to use a lot of grease on the main pivot pin that goes through the bushing this will help loosen it up and in a little while the bushing wears into its place correctly. With a bit of use your shifter should start coming back into the center on its own.

We hope this helps,

Cheers,

John
