If you want to make it a little bit more complete, you should get this:
http://www.amsperformance.com/cart/a...shing-kit.html

After installing it, I could "feel" the gates more. It added a more positive feel to the shifter.

Some people experience lockouts or notchiness when going WOT and shifting. A stiffer front motor mount will help with that. I have one installed in my car and it makes WOT shifting buttery smooth. However, it will add cabin vibrations and you will especially feel it when you run AC. I use the 70A durometer AMS front motor mount.

If you want to tighten up the shifter even more, you can get the TWM cage for the Evo X. I don't have it installed on my car nor do I feel it's necessary for daily driving

Ohh wow okay thanks! I used to have motor mounts on my old car and it annoyed the hell out of me. I would be vibrating so much at stop lights and stuff lol. Dont plan on doing those ever again!

I had the blox490 on my car. Thing weighs a ton and I loved it haha. For ****s and giggles the one day I put back on the stock knob and shifting just was not as smooth. I def suggest the blox490. Also I had the works short shifter w/ both bushing. No complaints here at all with that setup especially since it brings neutral where 2nd gear is stock basically. Here good reviews on both works and TWM though. I would stick with one of those.

I have the GR>G Heavy Wheight carbon fiber knob...its 1.1 lb...and the Works short shifter....before I put the shortshifter on...the knob made a HUGE difference with the stock throw...shifted smooth as butter....then after I put the shortshifter on it evened it out a bit b/c of the more work required to shift....

its a universal knob so it comes with 3 inserts...most people say knobs like that are garbage...but I couldnt find another heavy knob that looked like this so I took the plunge...basically you use a screw to attach the insert to the knob then you have to thread it yourself...took about 5 mins to do and ive taken it off an back on a few times and have had no problems with it being loose on the shifter...the ONLY issue I had was after about 2 weeks the insert became a little loose inside the knob...and by little I mean like half a MM...so to remedy this I pulled the sucker off and wrapped two layers of electrical tape around the south tip of the insert(the bottom of the knob) this was months ago and the knob is rock solid.

and apparently I managed to link the wrong knob in my post lmao...

Do a search for Krackas review of the works shifter and the TWM . It was a great write up he did and really helped me with my finally decision. I have the complete works upgrade for mine and love it. It was like night and day after the install and the install was really easy and fun.

I have the Torque Solutions short shifter, works base and under hood bushings coupled with the Redline cocktail and it's definitely better than stock but there's still some notchy shifts. I guess having a little grinding is a fact of life with the X's tranny.
