How to make the shifter better?

Hey guys so I have had my evo gsr for just over 2 months now and to tell you the truth I'm not the biggest fan of the shifter. I was just hoping to get some imput on what people are running out there as far as new weighted shift knobs, short shifter and bushings go. I'm really just daily driving the car with a few pulls from here and there. Any info or pictures showing off their setup would be great! Thanks

Get a weighted shift knob, do a short shifter to get rid of the long throws, get the underhood, gate selector, and shifter base bushings.

Change the transmission fluid to 2x MTL and 1x MT90

How many miles do you have on your car? As the car ages, your shifter will become more smother.

I have just over 2000 KMS lol

Can you reccomend any brands? I know that for my old rsx type s I had a skunk2 shift knob and a buddy club short shifter with buddy club bushings. I liked that setup but I don't know what would be comparible for the evo

TWM sells pretty good weighted knobs and bushings.

All I did was pick up the Cobb double adjustable short shifter... I don't notice anything. I am still going to keep using it , I'm just like "meh". I DD and mess around here and there.

Works makes good bushings. TWM makes good shift knobs but they're pricy. I like the Blox 490 shift knob. TWM and Works both make great short shifter, but I prefer the Works. Kracka had both the TWM and Works short shifter and he preferred the Works short shifter as well

The transmission fluid brand is Redline.

As you rack up the miles on your car, your car will shift better.

Yeah, because of his review I went with the Works short throw shifter. For the underhood bushings and shifter base bushings, I went with AMS because I prefer the metal bushings. Something to note: when you're ordering the underhood bushings, 2008 and 2010 have different bushings. The 2010 bushings are much larger. I believe 2010+ use larger bushings

The X shifter is miles ahead of the VIII but on the VIII I had I used torque solution solid bushings on the the base and the linkage and it made a huge difference in the notchyness of the shifter. The X shifter doesn't bother me at all.

I have a Torque Solutions SS and TWM full bushing kit. Made a world of difference. I am also running an AMS Delrin shift knob. The car is so much easier to drive and makes speed shifting less clunky. My son is running a Works SS and full TWM bushings and his too is simply amazing, both in normal driving and banging off shifts at redline. He has a bunch of shift knobs from Cobb to Mitsubishi aluminum to TWM Abrams. They all work nicely.

Yeah, that package is good. I probably would've gone with that if I didn't buy everything seperately

If you want to make it a little bit more complete, you should get this:
http://www.amsperformance.com/cart/a...shing-kit.html

After installing it, I could "feel" the gates more. It added a more positive feel to the shifter.

Some people experience lockouts or notchiness when going WOT and shifting. A stiffer front motor mount will help with that. I have one installed in my car and it makes WOT shifting buttery smooth. However, it will add cabin vibrations and you will especially feel it when you run AC. I use the 70A durometer AMS front motor mount.

If you want to tighten up the shifter even more, you can get the TWM cage for the Evo X. I don't have it installed on my car nor do I feel it's necessary for daily driving

Yeah the Blox 490 is a great shift knob that is heavy and is more affordable.
